transmission

 more info please ;)

But, not that it really means much, our company has a 03 2500hd 4x4 that has towed a decent amount in it's life and currently has approx 310k on the original trans and is still kicking.

the truck has 83k miles it is a daily driver changed the tranny fluid at its regular interval. never towed anything or any real heavy loads.

a long time! my mom has a 99-1/2 silverado 1500 4x4 with a 5.3 and has over 260k on it with very minor issues with anything.
a/c pump/ heater core/ fuel pressure regulator/ window regulator. and lots of maintenance. it's been scary dependable for her.
i would say 200-250k is not out of the ordinary for that trans

The average miles on a 4L60E needing repair that we see in our shop is about 150K, these are usually never serviced and rode hard. We have seen examples close to 250K and others as low as 40K.

yea when i worked at a dealer ship we usually replaced the 4l60e trans about 100,000 but we have a farm town where everything has a hitch and hauls stuff regularly

120k seems to be the average here. 1/2 tow things 1/2 are mommy-mobiles. But as Greg stated lots make more mileage and lots fail with barely any miles at all. Keep up on the maint, and as time allows have a shift improvement package/kit installed to eleviate the common issues.
For the $2000-2800 of a rebuild id advise getting an aftermarket warranty
with good coverage, ask around about warranty companies that took good care of their customers. I have a friend that had so many issues with his F150 he ended up using most of the $7500 coverage limit($7350 IIRC) they sent him a check for the balance of the warranty and advised it may be time for a different truck. prco was the compant he bought from .
