My GF's m1009 is starting to rust out pretty bad. It has 70k and runs mint. I was thinking of driving it until it completely rusts out then making a trazer. put a small flat bed and put cab and chasis axles under it and using it for snow plowing.

Good idea or stupid?

Eh, I think they look goofy as hell and not very practical . to me the whole point of a blazer is for the nice roomy interior, once you give that up theres no reason to stick with a blazer

It will really only be a plow truck. I just don't want to part it out. I all ready have 2 other trucks I just need a winter beater/ plow truck. Think it will look cool as a dually?

guy in town did this with all 1/2 ton stuff and aluminum custom bed.

drives it alot and plowed alot. havent seen him in a bit. but he always has new toys to play with.

When I was growing up In MN there where alot of guys who built Trazers for plow rigs cuz the blazer bodies fell off , I thought they were ugly then .........and I still do lol.

I guess for a plow truck it would be practical for the short wheelbase . but in my mind the best plow trucks have always been K20's or K30's with about 6 railroad ties in the bed

is there a pic of a "trazer" someone can post? Sounds like a reg cab short bed or something

To me a trazer is a cool replacement for a Toyota pickup and has it's place in the four wheeling community. As far as work/plow rigs go, the trazer would be too light in the rear for plowing and not large enough to load down with railroad ties. If you could somehow mount a sander on back to weigh it down, it could still work. Lots of folks here plow with blazers because of the wheelbase in small parking lots, but keep the top and back for weight.

IMO...load it down, chain it up and run it as is:D

Yeah with all that lost weight a trazer really isnt a plow truck candidate. Thats like plowing with a wrangler lol.

I like Trazers but the whole point of them is to be a short truggy using a factory frame. Theyre good trail rigs especially when contending with tight trails in the woods but they really are just a "Go out for a day" rig. No couple days out without some serious thought into storage.

I say do it :D

Just a day trip rig?? Pfftt , I could go out for a week in that thing :D

That truck has a 4bt doesnt it?

The only reason I say a day truck is because MOST trazers you see are just a simple frame width flatbed. Add a fuel cell and a spare and room is tight

yeah the ass end will be too light with just a flat bed for plowing.. I may buy a donor with a straight body to replace it.

thanks guys
