Took my Jimmy out to the trail for the first time and am checking stuff over now to make sure everything is still torqued right and all and noticed my tierod (Chevy 1-ton TRE's) boots are cracked up and one ripped off alltogether (all brand new stuff). What gives? Bad run of boots? Do I just need to grease them on the outside rather than just on the inside? I mean, this was after only one run and a little around town driving, maybe 50 total miles. I've never seen boots rip up that quick! Is there such a thing as heavy duty tie rod end boots? Maybe poly? I'd really appreciate any help y'all can offer here, I really don't wanna be running my tierod and draglink ends bootless! Thanks y'all!

Energy Suspension makes a urethane boot for them.

2x These are what I'm using. Much better then stock. Just wish they made some large enough for a draglink.

The last i looked there were three different sizes. I have a pair that i'm using on my draglink ends with no problems (ES2010's).

Thanks y'all! Hmm, I am gonna hafta get out there and measure up my stuff, Energy suspension seems to have a lot of stuff for different dimensions, wow! Or does anybody know what size for 1 ton TREs and ORD crossover steering draglink ends off-hand? Thanks!

x2 - I'm too lazy to measure.

I have a spare set of ES2010 ends in the garage. I guess i could do more of the work for you lazy bastages. :haha:

EDIT: checked the garage and i must have thrown out the old spares i had. I can get specs tomorrow though.

Here, i did some of your research for you. Here is a link to Energy Suspensions website that list all the urethane boots they offer. http://energysuspension.com/pages/tie_r.html

Thanks man, yeah, that's the one that I saw that prompted me to start asking about dimensions since they have a lot to choose from! :eek1:

:haha: I really do appreciate all the help man! Right now the Jimmy is in my buddy's shop that's 3 hours round trip away from my place, trying to get parts together before I make another trip down. Way diesel prices are right now, it's a $45 trip! :doah: Thanks for the help! :waytogo:

I have all the boots off of my DL and my tie-rod at home right now. I'll measure them tonight.

4x4HIGH I can't find that number (EG2010) anywhere on the EG website. Is it an Autozone part number?

FYI for those with stock 1/2 ton steering. 9.1311G (black/round)is the number I'm running on my K5's TRE's. AutoZone will order them if they do not have it in stock. Saves shipping.

The part number i use is an ES2010 and that's a Moog part number.

Well dang, I wish I woulda thought of this earlier. :doah: I called up ORD today and they are sending me out a new set of boots for TRE and draglink, all 4. (I purchased my whole front end set up from ORD). Great customer service!

At any rate, thanks for all the help y'all! If ya do happen to take the measurements, post 'em up! (I won't be getting my stuff 'til monday). I think I'm gonna go ahead and order the Energy suspension set as well to keep as back ups. I don't like the idea of running around bootless! Plus, it sounds like I'm not the only one that has been wondering what boots to order.

Thanks!
