Tried to make an order through LMC...And (Help on 88-91 grille/headlamp bezels)

They wanted me to basically grab my ankles and use broken glass as lube. I put in a 300$ order for a grille,headlight bezels, and (dr side) 2nd battery holder. They wanted 245$ shipping alone! I mean I do live in Alaska but come on...! Only offering UPS ground is stupid.


So here is my situation.

1991 K5 Blazer (Quad headlights)

I am looking for a chrome grille and headlight bezels. I like the way the GMC jimmy grille looks (without the emblem) but the bezels and grille look different from the Chevrolet ones.

The Chevrolet headlight bezels are square, where the GMC ones are different. Will it still bolt right on though? Here is some links to view my dilemma.


I would like to just buy the GMC bezels and grille if they fit up flush... Mounting I can try and figure out if its not right.

Ive searched posts only to fail to come up with the info I want. :confused:

I have read somewhere on here not long ago that the 89-91 GMC and Chevy grilles/bezels do not interchange.
 
what was said and no, they will not interchange.

I swapped over to a GMC grille a few years back, and then traded for a clean Chevy grille, i liked what i originally had better it turned out :p:
 
Yea I still like the Chevy grille, dont get me wrong... But have always been partial to a billet look :D. I think I will just order new bezels (Chevy) Since thats all that is broken on my truck; keeping the current grille. Then if the color doesn't match (dam uv) get some easy paint on.

On a side note If one was to buy GMC chrome bezels and grille. The grille and bezels over all should be the same dimension? So I'm thinking mounting might be the only issue?

It's been a WAY long time ago but I think I tried switching my dad's GMC (91') grill with my Chevy Blazer (89') grill and they bolted right up. I just wanted to see what it would look like if I had a "Jimmy" instead of a "Blazer". I think you have to use all the parts across the board to make it fit. Meaning, all GMC or all Chevy (including the headlight trim). Keep in mind, I probably did this 18+ years ago so my memory could be slipping.

yes, i just stated i did this an few posts back, in my Burb, i switched to the GMC grille, but then decided i liked the Chevy grille better. They will swap from GMC/Chevy, whatever, same truck, but the complete grille assy has to go with it.
 
yes, it has been done. the front end measurements are the same, but the fittings are a little different so a lil fab is always fun. as for obtaining the parts, look on ebay(i know, i said ebay). but sometimes you can find some hidden treasures. also, if your a democrat and despise meg whitman, look on craigslist.com(california area, i.e., o.c., l.a., san diego, etc.) i have seen many front end parts on there and with a few kind words, i'm sure you will find someone willing to ship under $245(hah, i still cant believe that) good luck!

Yea, I liked the Chevy grill better too!
 
Well I broke down and ordered 2 new bezels and Chevy grille. Was $230 parts/shipped :thumb: Might end up painting them not sure.

i paint the gray sections with a semi-flat black paint, not too glossy, not too dull/flat,, mask off the chrome.

I think it looks much nicer that their original color. :D
