Looking for info/pics about how much I might need to trim to put either 33's or 35's on basically a stock suspension. :dunno: Wanting to keep center of gravity low.

Thx, Mike

33s should work if you bump the axle forward say with a zero rate and trim the fenders back to the cab and defang the front. Not sure on 35s my friends. Sorry but no pics.

33s fit without doing anything to the body w/ 2" lift, I think stock and 33s might be doable but risky. It depends on the tire really, some tires arent true 33s and some run closer to 32. BFG run like 32.9 and the M/Ts are close to that as well.

Im running 33x12.5s I have a 2" spring lift (rough country springs and bilsein 5150s). I had replaced my brake lines with longer SS lines and made my own bumpstop extentions 1.5" out of square tubing.

2" lift doesnt require the brake lines but wanted to replace the old lines and 2" doesnt require any drive train or steering changes. 4" gets into drop pitman arm and lowering T/case and trans.

How old is your stock suspension? Just adding new will raise you up some. 2" lift is just enough to keep COG low but give room.

I de-fanged out of pure cosmetics.

All depends on the truck.

I have an 80 k10 that cleared 33x12.5's on rally's, my 84 k5 needed a lil trim.

Was a couple guys on here runnin 35's no lift at one time.

Well . . .

From another forum:

33x10.5x15's will fit on the factory rallies and have no rubbing of fenders at all. I'm running this set up with sagging springs and have yet to have a tire hit a fender... and yes mine goes off road on a regular basis. No problems with stumps and logs...

I think this is what I'm going to start with, I can only find 4 tires in this size though. BFG MT's, AT/KO's, Rugged Trails, and General Grabbers, I'm thinking the tried and true AT/KO's, any comments?

When I bought my '90 K5 it was stock except that someone put 33 inch tires on it. I wheeled it that way till the tires went bad and I had acquired all the parts I needed to start doing my build. It did pretty good. But, even with the sway bar connected, it would rub when I flexed it out. Don't know the specs on the wheels, and I don't have them any more. But the backspacing seemed pretty much stock because the tires didn't stick out at all.

But you can certainly drive a stock Blazer with 33s on the street no problem, and you can even 'wheel it pretty hard with almost no issues. I never crinkled my fenders, but it did rub on the inner fenders at full stuff.

Depends on the truck really. How old and how beat the springs are.

Mine would barely turn with my 33s on when the stock suspension was on it.

I'm running 32x11.50x15s on my k5 right now, absolutely no rubbing even at full flex and tires fit the wheelwels nicely, don't look too small like the old 31s. And I saw someone said something about the BFG AT. Best tire ever. These things will go anywhere and last you 65k miles.

Here is a comparison between my dads 91 back in about 1999, and my 85 k5 about 2011. His had 33 12.5s and tons of room, mine had 32 11.5s, and looks like less room... All about how shot the springs are IMO.

I ran 33s on my 87 with no lift. Never had a problem with anything rubbing off road. I'm now running 35x12.50 BFG KM2s on stock wheels with minor finder trimming. Badmix would you go to a thread that I've got about the 2" Rough Country lift and let me know how it rides.

Best advice I could give is buy what you want a some zero rates/ ez inches. Put em on go flex it out trim less than you think, flex , trim, flex, trim till they fit. You usually have 5 cut less 5 than you think

36x12.50 swampers with zero lift and axles in the stock location. We trimmed more than was needed.

Not trying to be an ass and contradict you but BFG ats are horrible. The only thing they are good for is lasting forever. Sure they arent half bad if you're just doing fire roads and stuff but actually wheeling, theyre a terrible tire. If you want a kick ass AT I would recommend Duratracs. If the BFG MTs you're talking about are KM2s I would take those out of your list.

And I couldnt get 36s to not rub stuffed at lock...

Lots of variables, like width and back spacing of wheels. Also depends on how many leaves are in your front spring pack. I had a 1985 K5 with 2 leaves in the front pack. I bolted on a set of generic 33x12.50R15" tires on some silly wide 15"x10" tires with not much back spacing.

I couldn't turn the steering on dry pavement.

Sorry for the crappy pictures. Here it is with the wheels and tires.

Had to trim.

Then I could turn the wheel.

It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

I don't mind it as much when the cut starts higher and actually blends into the bends up top.

But when there's straight fender line, then a random arc cut out.... :doah:
