I have an 81 k5 that is need of new sheet metal. I removed carpet and found the passenger floor pan (where the floor mat goes) to be rusted through. I also have a few places where the floor meets the rear cab corners to be rusted out as well.
Instead of buying various patch panels and sheet metal from various vendors and hardware stores, can I buy a donor 81 k10 truck cab and cut out the needed sheet metal from that donor and weld into mine. What sections of the donor cab (if any) would be compatible to cut and weld into mine? Also the rockers are gone on mine as well, so there are quite a few parts I am hoping to "borrow" from the donor cab.
The guy with the donor cab said he would deliver it to my door for $100. His cab is in great shape with no rust or dents (that I have seen so far). Bottom line, would there be enough usable parts from the donor to justify buying it, or would I only get a few compatible chunks of metal out of it?
Here are some pics he sent me of the donor cab:
Thanks for any input or help!
