i have a 1979 k10 and when im wheeling at night it gets pretty dark in a hurry.
what i want to know is do any of you guys have a light bar on your k10 and what do you think of k10s with light bars. i dont want those chrome roll bars in the bed i dont like the look so im really looking for the cab mounted light bar if anyone is running one on a pickup. thanks

i dont care for either one, i think they both look ugly. i would just mount some lights in the bumper or in the grill. do you have a stock bumper?

i do have a stock front bumper but idk where i would mount lights in my grille or do u mean behind it

im not a paid member so i cant see that pics, sorry for the incovience

I have a kc bar and hate it, It catches everything that hangs down.Mabye one day I'll tear it off and not have to worry about it anymore.

this might not fit your application but i mounted my lights directly to the cab since i dont really care about cosmetics. might not be the prettiest thing but i can SEE VERY GOOD lol

i like the look but isnt there just like light bars that bolt on to the roof, what r some other places to put lights on a truck or upgrades to make it brighter at night

I have a roof-mounted light bar in the basement, IIRC, it's a Carr brand. I think they are usually listed on ebay.

you can easily put some behind the grill, thats what i meant. and you can put them on the bumper pretty easily to. another idea would be to mount two like the jeep guys do. you might have to move them to open the hood but i think it looks pretty good if done right

that does look good, do u know if they make blackout covers for those light so they would be kind of hindin, and what kind of lights r those

do you wheel alot with other guys?

Those high power lights SUCK when the guy behind has to have them on!

Are you high speed stuff or low speed stuff or a combo?

Flood lights work well if you are just low speed or moderately low speed.

Just plain old ugly tractor lights. Putting some rock lights (dont' have to go on rocks for these to help) can help a ton too because you can usually see to both sides and the back of you.

Once again it kind of depends on the speed at which you drive at night.

Dunes yes mount em high make em bright, mud well it doesn't really matter where you mount em! Trail rides rock lites and bumper floods will do the job.

yea im mostly in trails with alittle mud going kinda slow but not crawling.
i was thinking of rock lights but where do you mount them so the dont get torn off by anything

he he,, :D

the ones on the bumper are those 6x8" with 130watt replaced bulbs bought at a 4wd shop, the overhead rack is an old "Trailblazer" i believe they are out of business, but all 10 forward facing, 5 rear and 1 each side facing bulbs were all 55watt, i replaced 6 of the forwards with 100 watt bulbs.
the lens was recently replaced with actual glass, the old plexi-glass or whatever it was, started fading, frosting and turning yellow. looks alot nicer now, throws out a TON of light, and will kill the battery even with the engine running in about 5 minutes with all 10 forwards and bumper + headlights turned on.

Those chrome jc whitney light bars with the jc whitney lights are soooo gay

Sorry had to take my anger out :D
