How do you have them mounted? Rollbar?Headache rack? Lightbar?

Weighing my options for mounting locations on my K10 other than the bumper.

Personally I don't like them mounted up high. Just begging for a branch or something to remove, "adjust", or just break them.

I run mine on top. Adjustable from in the cab. Have broke 6 inch branches and not dmaged the lights. On top gets the light out farther than bumper mounting. If you are going slow, it is not an issue.

I have a set of Hellas mounted to the brushguard, for lack of a better term, on my front bumper. The only thing I don't like is that my fat gut "adjusts" them skyward when I work on the truck, leaning over the radiator :haha: There's also a set of halogens inside the grille wired up with the highbeams.

The eagle-eyed will note that there's also a lightbar in this pic, which is off the truck at the moment. It has cheap lights that don't put out as much light as the ones on the bumper, which themselves provide adequate illumination for the invasion of Utah Beach  so I may or may not do the light bar thing again. (Damn thing doesn't fit in the garage with it on.)

I'd say the choice depends on driving style (i.e. do you anticipate any low-hanging branches or light fixtures in parking garages), the availability of mounting on the bumper or grille -- easier if you have a square or tube bumper, or a grille guard, than if it's factory, and the size and mounting orientation of your choice of lights.

High powered lights mounted above your eye level [ in dusty conditions] makes it harder to see from the glare [for some].

That's why they a adjustable. When dust gets bad, you have to slow some anyways, and you start adjusting them down. Can't be too bad up top if every desert car in Baja runs them on top as well as a couple low on the front.
