well, i can't get any power(via test light) to the ignition wire on the starter...the one by it self. everything else has power even at the firewall. everything works, power everything, lights radio..... it did this once before but the next day it started. could it be the neutral safetly switch??? or possibly the starter switch on the column???? is there a way to test these??? the starte will work when jumping it...so it's no the starter or selenoid. like i said, the wire that tells the starter to engage isn't getting power at all. and it looks fine(pulled it off) any ideas???

If you have Haynes or Chiltons manual you can look up the schematic starting at the colunm (key) and trace it all the way to the solenoid. I do hnow that attatched to the bottom of the steering colomn the is a distribution point that rotates with the column when you put it in park. There is a wiring harness that plugs into that, and then it runs through the fire wall. I have had to mess with that before. If you don't have one of the manuals, get one. When you run into a wiring problem, they are worth there weight in gold!!! Hope that helps, if you get any further, let me know. You do know that the solenoid wire only gets power when the key is turned all the way forward? Just checking.

well...thanks man. but i believe it's actual the neutral safety( or the point under the colomn that you spoke of) switch because i threw the truck into drive and it rolled like 5inches forward, then threw it into park and tested the wire again with the test light and bingo. so i hooked it all back up and will look into this switch some more. thanks alot though brother
