Oh yeah, there's a bunch of fusible links in that area. I blew one a few years ago and ended up putting a 50amp maxi fuse in it's place. Later I heard of folks putting actual circuit breakers in there.

naw, the burnt up wire was a job done by the PO, not factory wiring. I think he just used a wire that was too small a guage. but yes, i have a second fire extinguisher, its getting installed in the truck this weekend. and im strongly debating expanding my trucks insurance to full coverage after my fiasco with the car-b-que.
i have another wiring repair to do behind it, the wire hasnt burnt up, but the insulation is split open and the wires are corroding. so i gotta take care of that this weekend.
