Truck won't start SOLVED!

Thinking through this, though not an expert. You either have no gas, a blocked fuel line, or your pump is bad. My guess would be bad pump. Just because it is kicking on, doesn't mean its pumping. Bad diaphram maybe? Don't you have the pump in the tank? Might could try disconnecting fuel line @ filter and seeing if you get fuel flow when pump sounds like it is running. Would at least get you closer to the problem.

I would check the fuel pump relay to see if constant power is going to the pump first. Tho it is kicking in when you try to start, it might be cutting it off - i.e. no pressure to injectors.

Blows gas all over. How do you check (or blow out) the line from the top?

So I pulled the injector body - when you "start" the truck, gas pumps at the filter, but not at the fuel inlet. Will high pressure air work?

You saying that gas is not going through the filter? If so, then a new filter is in order. Also, some filters have check valves, and will not pass gas, humm, doesn't sound right, if they are in backwards.

Air might blow through, but its going to damage the filter and let the crud it was stopping go through to the injectors.

I tool the line off under the truck after the filter and when I turn teh key, gas squirts. I then re-connected the line at the filter and disconnected the fuel inlet (took the injector body off) and when you turn teh key - nothing. Fuel past the filter- no fuel to the top. Clogged line?

Pretty much got to be.
You could theoretically have super low pressure and it would not be able to make it up to the engine, but in that case it would not go though the filter either.......

Do a visiual inspection of the line for another filter someone may have put in, or a pinch point.
If you cannot find anything, then take it loose at the filter and injectors and try air.
I would try it backwards, since whatever blocked it was more than likely moving from the filter to the engine when it got stuck.

Double check any and all rubber lines. They can come apart inside and block things up.

If you have a fluke inst you can check power to the relay, otherwise testlight.

The best method to clear a clogged line is to remove the filter, and blow compressed air down each line toward where the filter should be. Thus not collapsing the filter or sending 90 psi toward the fuel reg

Did you remove the line closest to the drivers side, that is the fuel inlet line?

I disconnected at the filter, blew air, reconnected and the fuel is not making it to the top. I disconnected again and get gas flowing at the filter. Could there be a pressure issue at the pump (allowing backflow?)

I removed them both & the entire injector body so I can see the lines (fuel & return) clearly

I understand that you removed the complete injector pod BUT did you loosen or remove the fuel line closest to the drivers side from the injector pod? The pump can run all day long and have plenty of pressure but if the ignition module isn't sending the pulse signal to the ECM the injectors will never open and fuel will never come out of them.

I am not sure if you disconnected the fuel line before the injector, or if you removed the whole pod. If the injectors are still intact with the fuel line, turn the key on and apply a ground signal to a tapped injector wire (light blue or light green) fuel should spray as long as you hold the ground on the wire.

Just to make sure, take a look at what I am looking at-

Ok, so knowing what you're dealing with if the pump is working and you aren't getting fuel shooting out of that fuel line there is either a massive blockage in the line or the fuel pump is bad and can't deliver any kind of volume. Check for any pinched fuel lines and since you said you have fuel at the outlet of the filter make sure you remove and check the braided line near the front leaf spring on the passenger side. Those can go bad from the inside out or something may have crushed or damaged the hose.

Well, I imagine fuel should be spraying out of those the way you tested it...

Thanks, I thought so, but I really am a fuel system noob.

Thanks, I will go back through the line, but I an starting to think that it is a fuel pump problem and that ain't gonna be cheap...

I have been chasing a similar problem. Mine would start and run fine, then die and no fuel to the injectors. It would fire once in a while like it was out of gas. I poured 2 gallons in, and hooked up the fuel pump tester. No pressure, but lots of gas on the tank side of the filter. New filter, same thng. When I dropped the tank, there was over five gallons in the tank. Pump would deliver fuel, but no pressure.
Now it's too hot (117* today) to work on it so it will be a week or so till I find out if a new pump fixes it.
