I have a 1991 Chevrolet K5 Blazer with the 350 V8 motor, a few days ago it would not start and whenever I turned the ignition over the horn would make a slight beep, then when he hit the starter with a hammer it would start right up. We just replaced the starter and now it won't start with hammer assist at all and it still makes the quick beep. any ideas?

Check fuses and fuseable links, there's a link down by the starter. Also check the condition of the wires in your starting circuit. Get in there with a voltmeter and start tracing wires.

You may want to try jumping the solenoid. Its a little more awkward on a SBC since the solenoid is on the starter but can still be done. The beep sound has me curious if the ignition switch (slide portion under steering column) is bad or out of alignment. If it jumps and starts from the solenoid I would think that may be the problem. Could still be a fuse or fuse-able link since you would be bypassing all of that by jumping also.

Just my .02...

So we got the starter working but now ive gone to start it and ive lost all dash lights, radio, everything in the engine bay, but the interior lights still work

If you rotate the headlight switch to turn the interior lights on (doors shut of course) do they work?

I don't recall exactly how the wiring is setup for every component, but I know there are at least two fusible links...one generally for ignition, one generally for lighting.

Look at my sig for the link to various GM service/wiring manuals, understanding the circuits will help you figure the problem help. With that much 'wrong", probably not a real complex issue. Especially if it just started one day out of the blue.
