Trying to decide on a tow rig...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you drive from the front seat? All kidding aside I really like the Dodge quad cab, looks like an extra cab with forward faceing doors, (I think that is really the market they were after) and looks like it has a chance of fitting in my garage. I guess at the moment I don't feel I need something as long as a semi trailer.
I hope the new Mega cab doesn't make it look like one of those airport limo's. :D
The quad cab would be OK if I had toddlers or small kids, but right now I have a 4 month old and the wife is already buggin me about having another one. The problem with the Dodge is that it won't fit rear-facing baby seats without having to slide the seats forward, so it would suck for the first few years. The truck is going to serve as the family-hauler for long trips since the ther car is too small to fit even one kid and all of the associated kid accessories. My wife had to buy the ungodly-humongous stroller... None of these trucks would fit in my garage anyways, especially since I want a longbed for a slide-in camper.

I'm back to leaning towards the GMC now, the Ford 6.0 just scares the hell out of me, there are alot of horror stories out there about it.

I think that I just need to get really really drunk and go buy a truck, that way my base instincts will take over and I'll get what I really want.:D

hahahaha, go for it.

Hey I remember seeing about 6 or 7 dulleys, new 05s were I bought my Silverado. It was Chase Chevrolet in Stockton. I know you said GMC but just thought I would let you know that Chase does have a BIG lot, hell they may even have a GMC dealership there??? Duno
Happy Shopping:D
Oh and Stanadyne ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

When I was comparing the backseats from the big three I basically looked at it the same way. I like the suicide door style and how often do you really take more than one passenger along? I have had my '01.5 for 3 months and only once have I had three people in the vehicle including me. If I had kids it might be a different story though.

:eek1:

Has anyone seen pics of the mega cab, with it being so close to production there has to be some pics floating around somewhere?

Someone did a chop job on it but the proportions aren't quite right, it looks like a mix between a short and long bed and the cab doesn't have the extra bit behind the back door. Personally I think crecab shortbeds look kinda funny, the Megacab has such a huge cab that the shortbed is going to look realy disproportioned to the truck. It's supposed to be the same lenth as a current quadcab longbed, but with a shortbed on it and the extra cab space making up the difference. I was going to do a chop on it myself but haven't had time.

Interesting:

2006 Chevrolet Silverado
Because the second-best selling vehicle behind Ford's F-Series is GM's Silverado, you can bet that the folks at GM are busily working on a completely new design for their full-size pickup truck. Like the F-150, the new Chevrolet Silverado will offer bolder front-end styling with larger headlights and taller hood profiles. The new Silverado, scheduled for introduction in 2005, is critical to GM, which, of course, wants to keep sales away from the new Ford and Nissan Titan.

I'm looking forward to it. I hate the Chevy grills (personal preference, no disrespect to those that have them), and my personal preference has usually been Chevy over GMC. If it looks good, I will go with the Chevy, if not I am getting the GMC (ASSuming they don't do anything screwy with their front end). I am also not buying the truck on "looks". I want the D/A combo, but since I can get it in either the Chevy or GMC, I do have a choice on looks.

Side Note: I found out recently that GM sells more trucks in each market segment than Ford or Dodge, but since GM has separate divisions (GMC's "Sierra" and Chevrolet's "Silverado"), their sales cannot be combined (example: Chevy sells 8 trucks, GMC sells 8 trucks, and Ford sells 9). Ford can claim they sell more trucks than Chevrolet (which it does). Not that this is a big deal or even important, but I did not realize that until I read it. I just ASSumed Ford sold more trucks than GM because of the way they advertise....

From what I understand, the new design will be out in 2006 as a 2007 model, but only on the SUVs. The trucks will follow in 2007 as a 2008 model. I could be wrong but that's the latest rumor that I've heard...

Haven't found a pic of an 06 Silverado, but did find this 06 Sierra, I dunno

It looks like a Ford! First dodge in '94 with the "high rise" center of the hood with the grille, then ford with the SD body and now this?

Hmm, that's pretty damn uggy if you ask me. It looks like an overstuffed marshmallow.
