I guess I need to make a sig but anyways I have an 84 k20 suburban that I just bought and it has a lift kit on it. Currently it has a 6inch block in the back, so basically did the k20's come with a factory block? im trying to figure out if its a 4inch or 6inch lift.

The K20 I grabbed my axles out of had a factory block in the rear. Looked about 4" tall. Not sure if they are still around or if I tossed them.

Just guessing out loud, I would think a 6" block in the rear would indicate a 4" lift as the rear sits higher when stock. This is taking into consideration the factory 4" block removed and replaced with the 6" block.

I've never seen a factory block on a GM truck. Ford yes, but not GM.

first 1-2 years of k30 had 3" block in rear till thay made 4wd frame hangers for the rear leafs.

but in 1/2 and 3/4 ton no factory blocks for our style trucks.

I was pretty sure that truck was untouched. Sat at stock height with stock wheels and 235/85/16 tires. Didn't look awkward and was even in height with the 1/2 ton burb I had it parked next to. :dunno:

But I'm not arguing and certainly don't know everything either. Just stating from my experience. Truck was an 86 K20 4x4 with 56" rear springs and a thicker front pack if that means anything.

Imo, that's a 6" lift and definitely not a factory block.

thats basicly a metric 35 x 12.50 x 16 basicly.

yep that be 6" if you ask me.

edit for wrong button hit

I come up with 34.6"x12.4x16 :dunno:

I think it may have as much as 8" if those are 35's

Any pics of the front springs?

EDIT: I just checked some specs on the those 9(8/1)leaf rear springs and they are the 2900Lbs. or 3500Lbs. springs. That will probably give the illusion of more lift.

yeah, the thickness of the leafs alone can account for more lift.

holy cow that's scary, I've seen double blocks before at 4WP so they seem to approve of this behavior. Also, you might look into ditching that payload proportioning valve thing on the axle brake line. I'd be surprised if it worked at all.

Haha ya it's pretty crazy. I plan on doing the shackle flip kit and longer shackles to get rid of the crazy block lol

The crazy valve has been bypassed so I plan on removing it

Just did the ORD 4" shackle flip on my 87' Suburban. I also had the blocks and they were down right scary...
