[ QUOTE ]
any one know if the dvd is out yet. it says in the mag they can be bought at 4wheel parts but i was just curious if they're in stores yet.

[/ QUOTE ]

IIRC it will be available sometime in Dec /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

If you have a chevy engine, chevy tranny, chevy tcase and chevy axles... how exactly is your rig a "jeep".

Because with a big fat body you just can't win these competitions. They're about high speed stuff even though it doesn't appear that way from the mag.

[/ QUOTE ]

uhhh Brian and Toby won the TTC with fullsize rigs... and Watson got 2nd (to a fullsize) in it as well. Nut sure where the "you just can't win" idea comes from...

[ QUOTE ]
IMO a fullsize can easily complete every event, but to do it fast, you need something light, short, and nimble with lots of horsepower and heavy drivetrain. The winners of these comps show it completely.

[/ QUOTE ]

uhhh... have you been following TTC at any time other than this year? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If TTC is won by a fullsize rig, all that means to me is that the smaller guys with fullsize drivetrain either were lesser drivers or had lesser built rigs.

TTC is built for big trucks more than RTC is, but if you're trying to go FAST, light, strong, and powerful is what you need.

Of course you mentioned the two previous years that prove your point. The year prior to that, the winner was a Jeep also.

We kicked everybody ass in the obstacle course and the minirubicon and placed well in the braking, acceleration, frame twister,
Wait we placed well in every event except the Tank trap and that was only because of a decision that we made that ended up being wrong.
This was all in a fullsize Full body rig. We beat jeeps and smaller rigs out. How you ask with our to big to be competitive vehicle. It's the team of vehicle, driver, spotter. The vehicle needs to run well and not break, ever. The driver needs to be able to drive, and the spotter must spot well.
This is how you win not by having the smallest lightest whatever vehicle. That does help but it doesn't make you a winner auotmatically.

Size of the fight in the dog not the dog in the fight.
I have a guy here at work that insists all you need is a Samurai and "bigga tie-yas". And "articulation isn't fun" /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif
But I think I'd agree with him, a sammy meeting those specs would be nice for an RTI ramp. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Agreed 100%.

You need a vehicle that stays together so you can concentrate on stratagy instead of wrenching.

TTC fortunately has SOME events that actually favor a heavier truck so it worked out great for you guys.

I think the burb was the truck that i really wanted to see preformeee .....I think it had like 1000 hp and 3000 lbs of torque ..!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif It was cool !!! I cant believe that people take there expensive trail rigs and beat them to [censored] for just a little note in some rag the is tooo expensive to buy each month ....then a subscription .!@!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif I would wish that at least for me I would like a LOT MORE coverage and more pics and feautures to help me with my expendurture !!! /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

I don't think that it "had" 3000ft lbs of torque... I think, according to him, it was capable of that at 150lbs of boost. I would love to see him push that sum' bitch to 150lbs of boost, because I want to see the head pop right off of that block and shoot thru the fking hood!

I liked how they used to present TTC back when it first started w/ large articles written about each event. I now feel like I just got teased w/ it and have to buy the DVD to see what actually happened or get any details about each competitor in each event.

no it was fast as hell but he couldnt keep a clutch in the thing to keep it moving.

and I also think that a fullsize is the way to go at TTC you just cant care about body damage.
im sure that steven would have won if he hadnt opted to stay away from the body damage issue but back then his blazer was still really nice /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

I guess we will see if I get in next year how another fullsize does.

I talked to Robin Stover, the feature editor of Fourwheeler at RTC. I asked him about that thing because it looked REALLY bad ass in the mag. He said it was stupid, just because it broke CONSTANTLY.

thats called 'all the right parts going slow'
or
'bling bling boom'

I just recieved my copy today. I am a little bummed on the Cummins powered burbs performance. I was ruting for him all the way, although I do think he is full of it on his acclaimed power numbers...everyone over at TDR.com thinks so. I was ruting for him because finally someone with something different than a jeep or FS chevy with the standard BBC or SBC in front of a th400 or sm465 backed by a 205 and the usuall 60/14 combo. It works good but it's getting boring IMHO.

It's too bad he had problems with breakage and it sounded like he had some bad luck with the front locker. If he would have kept the power down slightly he could have still ran the 47RE auto and probably would have killed in the pull and acceleration tests.

Also I think he was just asking too much of that D60. A cummins with twins, heavy bumper and a winch has that 60 at it's max load rating IIRC, combined with that much power and 44's....too much!

Still a badass burb though that wasn't your "standard" built TTC rig. Oh, and that unimog was cool too! It could almost be a service truck with the aluminum tool boxes and it had a 406! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I could care less about the Sheeps. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

I don't even think there is a way to effectively put that much power to the ground in an off road truck.

Like m j said,

Bling, Bling, BOOM!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif
