Quite a bit more to do of course...There'll be a tube under the windshield connecting the two main tubes. There'll also be a couple going from the frame where the stinger is welded on, to the main tube, just under the end of the tube in front of the radiator. Then on to the rest of it when I get some more tube.

The main tubes now are welded to a modified door hinge. I cut all the hinges off the cab, plated the hinge area with with 1/8" plate, notched and bent the hinge so it's a 90* bend now, flipped it arnoung and welded it to the plate. Then welded the end of the tube to that. Everything will be tied into everything in as many places as possible. Just to stiffen everything up. Thery'll be ALOT of tube on the thing when it's all said and done.

Thanks to my buddy Joe and his brother for the use of thier bender and bending knowledge. Tube work is new territory fo rme, I'm learning alot. :)

wow, kick azz idea on using the door mounting hardware/area for attaching some tube. I might have to look into doing something like that myself. Definitely lookin good so far. I need to get my benders base set up and save some $ for some tube so I can play too. :) anyway, I hope ya keep this thread alive with updates/pics, that'd be cool. keep up the good work!

Nice, that chit looks farkin' sweet. I'm gonna need a cage soon, wish I had a bender.

I like the way it slopes down on the side, very cool looking. :cool1:

Time to clean up that bender die, scoring the shiznit out of the tube.

looks nice, any reason you didn't raise that radiator tube up just a little more? I understand the stinger will most likely protect the rad in a roll over but I would have made that bar taller than the rad just for that added safety. Could cut into sight line though I guess.

The tube in front of the radiator is where it is because I need a place to support the top of the radiator. There are two holes in the top of the radiator that I'm going to tie into with some rubber mounts from McMaster for support. (McMaster Carr part# 5823K21) Nothing supporting the top of the radiator now. If the bar was much higher than it is, it would be that much more complicated to build a bracket for the mount, and it wouldn't look as clean.

The bender and dies aren't mine. I've never worked with tube before, so in an effort to keep tube waste to a minimum, I took the truck to a budz shop to learn about it, and bend it all up. He's built many cages and bent lots of tube on his 1.75 die, so it's well worn. The scoring doesn't bother me a bit. Rocks are gonna put much bigger scores in it than a die ever will. :D

I like the cup holder. Don't zero it out with the cowl tube.

Thanks dood... :D

I dunno 'bout the owning part, but I hope so...Just over two years ago that place ate my big block, cost me $500 to tow home and my gf left me the next day. I have a score to settle with FR.

I'll try to remember tonight to take a pic of the oil bottle holder I built for the Sub prior to going to Baja with it. Might give you some ideas about what you can do with that area.

LOL...I see I kinda did the same as you....Except, since I have doors I couldn't use the hinge plates (plus they are a little different on s-10's), so instead, I bolted a piece of 1/4 plate to the attachment points for the fenders.

Mystinger is bigger :D :D

This is the best pic I have of my "oil refinery". I've a couple more if it sparks an interest. That one holds 6 qts of engine oil and 6 qts of ATF. I don't know that you'll get that much (or even want/need that much) in the cowl area.
