Tuff Truck Racing - Calhan CO July 22

The carb is the big problem, the tranny would not upshift, the front upper shackle bushings are gone, and the rear shocks got damaged from hitting frame. The missing shackle bushing made it sound like metal on metal bottoming out on every bump on the last lap. I took it easy as I was not sure wtf was broke.

I will go for the 63" front springs now and use a upper shackle pivot point below the frame rail with shorter shackles. I will run 2 leafs so the ride height will be about what it is now, but the axle should droop enough to get me the 15" travel I have been designing around. The 52" springs just cant do that. I know coils are the answer to all this but I am trying to push the limit on what leaf springs can do (and stay close to the SCORE class 3 rules)

I may spend more time organizing races than actually fixing the truck. Ya up for another race..?

The $60 entry at Penrose is too rich for my blood for the number of laps you get. Maybe some other race.

$60 for a tuff truck race? Ouch! I will ask Terry why that is so high.

There might be another short-course style race around the end of Aug out at CORE if the track can get finished in time. There is a 100 mile desert race out there on the 16th and I might take my truck out and race that one.

I believe there is a tuff truck event at the state fair as well.

I had abother tech question - What kind of front driveshaft are you running? Mine looks like it is running out of splines and the angle at the pinion is getting close to binding (at full droop).

The front shaft is stock. I am running 18 inches of travel. I did have to grind the CV to get the angle, but the joint at the pinion is OK.
