Tuning The 350 FAQs (basic tuning for dummies)

Set your timing first. 8º is stock so do that for now. If you have a new ignition stuff that should be fine. Is your accelerator pump working? Look down the primaries, pump the throttle and you should see 2 streams of fuel. Make sure you dont have any vacuum leaks, make sure that booster port is tight. Get your idle down to where it should be 6-700rpm. Tune the screws on the front for highest idle, if you have a vac gauge use that. Theres a few post about tuning on here. If your still having problems try rebuilding your carb.

I got a edelbrock 1406 on my truck, works fine. Havnt taken it offroad but does fine on the road. Rebuild kit is $35 and then add in the off-road needle and seat. Carbs are expensive, you could get a used qjet tho, up to you but the edelbrocks are really simple. I wouldnt go out and buy a metering rod kit, get it working first.

If the rebuild doesnt cure the stumble then its prolly your distributor, the weights may be stickings and something else. Its only a slight stumble right?

Also, did you try a new MUFF?

Its another reason why i haven officially joined the NCOR at all man, everyone there ive seen is from here, and is already burnt out on my questions,,,,
As i was in the lounge for 3 years figuring out a game plan.I finally found a truck, and got in a direction. :D
mkay. sorry bout that. you guys are on here for hours and lately I only check in for 5 minutes out of the day.
i was up late studying for 2 tests this morning and you pm'd me while i was taking a break.. If i couldn't say anything nice i decided to not say anything at all especially like ****can that edelcrap and lets slam a tuned port or genIII engine in that bietch, because i'm biased you should know that.
I know quite a bit about holleys but back when i ran an edlbrock and it started giving me fits, i swapped to another edlebrock off a buddys camaro that started crapping out on me, then got rid of that for a holley since i could actually adjust it enough with whatever was in my glovebox to get it working good. ..about as good as you can try to get a "controlled fuel leak" to work. :wink1:

that's a pretty good looking pic if you could take that big red blob out of the middle.:haha:
I'll give you a break, since I'm sure your response was driven by anger, jealousy, and a feeling of being "outdone." As you are still driving an automobile with one of those primitive "gas" (hope I pronounced that right) type engines that burn lots of pretroleum but make zippo for power.

Us Dodge Ram Cummins guys have named it "malturbodiesel syndrome.":p: How does the other half drive {snobby luagh}....:haha:

What does this have to do with tuning a vehicle? Hell for the both of you, even the noobs gave better tech than both Beater AND Rjf

so if you guys are so cool and hip to the scene, lets measure that from a technican standpoint, like a tech shootout. At least then i can get some more ideas for tuning, not my red blob id better than your red blob type stuff.

I think* ,,, For the both of you, a truck was never ever meant to be painted red at all. Its like what are you guys trying to do? Red is a color for a sports car, not a truck. If both of those trucks were black, they would look a hell of a lot better than they do now in my opinion. Its not a manly color at all, red was intended for fast cars, women in a red dress, and not much more than that. I like my flat black primer paint jhob better than red any day.

:p: Hope this gets to ya! :haha: :D

The ck5 secret service ningas are greatly ashamed of the both of you pee pee heads,,:haha: j/k,

Like 355HP and 810ft lbs of power?:D

16mpg towing 7K on the highway, 15.5mpg in town empty, and 20mpg highway empty @72mph.

Lets see.....should we add up the millions of late night hours on the phone chatting away about blazers???:wink1:

How about some more details Jake. How does it do completely warmed up and taking off from a stop all the way to 60-70mph? How does it run cruising at 65mph on the freeway. What's it do when you stomp on the pedal at 45mph mimicking making a pass? Have you actually tested it in all of these conditions?

What is your timing at idle? What is it at full adcance? How do the plugs look? What color are they? What does the air filter look like? Is it clean? Are there any exhaust leaks? Any vaccuum leaks that you are aware of?:D

Threadjacking??

Where??

:pimp1:

Ok, I found the .pdf version of the Edelbrock instructions I downloaded before for the carb but the model numbers range from 1403 to 1413 on the instructions for the Performer series, so it is one of those I think. I believe the model number is on the front down at the base.

oh no, i hate red. my C1500 is maroon (kinda red), my C2500 is red, and my C20 is red. the K20 gets to be the oddball of the bunch and be blue.

hi pinion,

Befor you start changing anything write down what it set at now.... and also write what you change and how..... if you run into problems you can go back to what it was when you started.

If you take it to a shop ask them for a compression print out..... that will tell you what kind of shape the motors in.
