Well that didnt last long............
what transmission rebuild kit do i go for?
want steels and clutches

I don't remember just how I got the clutch drum compressed but my retarded ass did it in 2008 with a 10mm 12 point and a big hose clamp for the pump alignment too. The th400 is a simple piece of equipment. I seriously don't think you need half of that.
The lip seal tool is safe though. It is fun to get new tools if you just wanna.

FYI, I've never built a 400, but I've done 700R-4, 4L60-E and some 4T65E's and I never bought a single special tool, beyond things like feeler gauges, dial indicator and some larger snap ring pliers. Making everything as you go is certainly slower, but it can seem silly to put big $$ into tools you'll (hopefully) use once. I have good success with tight wraps of electrical tape on teflon seals instead of the specialized seal sizers (sadly can't figure out how to patent this ;)).

So what are the symptoms?

Sorry, I don't know what parts to order. I've used B&M and tripleedgeperformance.com for the small stuff. Also, I'm a big fan of finding a local shop that has good used parts they will sell you to replace the bits and pieces you've fragged or worn out. Imagine losing one roller bearing or seal and having to figure out what to order vs picking through their parts bin.

i have a pressure gauge , was going to see what pressure it is making in the morning
jack it up put on jack stands so it less likely to kill me and write down the pressures in each gear then ill check governor gear
already changed the filter and inside the pan looks great

Pull the pump by pulling on two long bolts installed into the threaded holes in the pump body and pushing out from the valve body side.
align the pump halves by using a large hose clamp around the circumference.
I have used a 2l bottle for lip seal install before. Cut a half circle shape from the bottle, and make sure no sharp edges, then use the rounded edge to roll the seal into position.
I have used two small bar clamps to compress the spring retainers.
Use the large C clamp looking fixture to hold the case on the bench.

Get a Ron Sessions, or Cliff Ruggles book to learn you how to do it.

I am going to rebuild a 4L80E transmission. I want to get the same transmission bench holder as you. I was hesitant to by one like yours because I was concerned it would not be heavy-duty enough to hold the entire weight of a transmission with all the planetaries in the case. Post up how the bench holder works for you. If it works OK for you, then it should be good enough for my 4L80E.

I am also going to buy one of these "how to" flash drives on rebuilding the 4L80E from a place called
http://www.transmissionbench.com/ . They also have ATSG transmission assembly manuals.
