Two 86 F350 4x4s Mayo & Ketchup

Covid, he was about 78.
I wish I would have met him. Going thru this stuff is a lot like going thru my stuff, we shared a lot of the same interest.
Estate sales always kind of give me a weird feeling, kinda feel like grave robbing??
At least this is different because I'm buying stuff from a multi millionaire instead of a widow.

Looks like a nice stash. Good looking stuff for sure. When things settle down I'm on the hunt for an OBS diesel Furd for a camping rig. Overlanding is the fancy word nowadays I suppose. :doah:

So this f350 has a high pinion front d60 installed at this time ? or just the 2 in the bed?
Yes, this truck appears to be all complete and with the exception a popup gooseneck hitch in the bed it looks factory.
What appears to be the original Hi 60 is in place and complete with shaft etc....

I put 5 gals of gas in today and got new oil and filter ready to install before I try to start it again. I have actually moved it under it's own power for a short distance.

Current mileage is aprox 111K
It is actually growing on me the more I check it out.
It would not feel right doing a build thread here but will I update about it's drive ability.

You could do a build thread in the other rides section. I’ll watch!

So, no gas to carb. Found twisted line at carb but still no fuel with key on or while cranking. Has what appears to be factory elec fuel pump with reset button under dash. Can't hear fuel pump but I can't hear shit to start with.
Looks like maybe pumps in each tank??
Also has what appears to be pressure regulator with return line to tank?
Regulator is hard to blow thru.
Fords

Some of them have three fuel pumps.

Martin
I have only spent a few minutes under the truck and so far all I have noticed is the tank selector unit, where would the third pump be?

This is a super cool truck Ron! I've always had a soft spot for bull nose Fords. Plus it is identical to my K30.

so yes, a fuel pump in ea tank, no 3rd pump for carburated truck, and fuel sector valve. That is a fuel bypass return to tank, in started using in 1988 and the first one were letting to much fuel return to tank. Wouldn't stop it from running, but wide open throttle, up hill with a load it would show up. I think Ford did a service recall in 89 or 90. Any replacement should be up to date. Thou I don't they are calibrated for 10-15% ethanol.
Smack that fuel cut of switch with a dead blow, then reset it. If your gonna wheel it I'd get rid of it. Bouncing around on tow truck can actuate the the cut offs.

Also pretty sure this truck will have roll over check valves installed on the lines, at the tanks. This is also a recall band aid. I haven't seen them stop fuel flow but one never knows.

Interesting about the fuel cut-off. Never had a problem with the '90 at my old job. It di weight 9200 by itself, maybe that dampened things enough.
I honestly liked that EFI 460. Did a bunch if work with it.

I'm a fan also.
The welding truck we had/still have when I first started with this company is an 89ish?? {Brick Nose} F450 2X FI 460. Fully loaded and it still pulled strong. Just gotta stop at every 5th gas station.

Ron, what are your plans for this thing? gonna hold onto it a while or flip it?

I have spent the last few weeks accumulating a ton of extra parts for this truck including fenders, doors, hood and a set of NOS Ford bedsides still in the factory boxes. The current "patina" is 80s work truck but still in better then average condition and does not really need the body parts. The lucky guy that brings the cash or cool trade will be getting a good truck but also a lot of extra parts.
