Its time to go every day on my build. Nothing groundbreaking (or axle breaking :haha:) but Im ready and will need the help of you guys & gals to do it.
The build is my 91 K5 5.7l 3.73 equipped rig. Bought it from a friend who bought it new straight out of college and used it purely as a d d and to pull a catering trailer for his resteraunt. Paid $2500 w/110k on it 4 years ago . I threw some new 33s on it pulled the rear bench and carpet (cooking oil tragedy, focking stunk) , threw in buckets and Herculined the floor and mainly used it to pull my dirtbike trailers. About a year ago my heater core went, I did a search and hear we are today. This has cost me a lot more than 25 bucks but I cant thank you guys and gals enough. Hell, If I avoid another knee surgery Im well ahead. Over that last year Ive been buying tools and built a pretty well equipped shop. So now its time to put it all in high gear as I have nothing but time at the moment. Nope, not an ankle bracelet type thing. Just have some time for what seems the first time.

Im sure im leaving a few things out but they’ll surface during the build. I still need lots-lockers, steering, brake lines, shocks, rims/tires and the list goes on. Heres some pics and any help/ideas will be greatly appreciated and I hope to meet more members.

I need to decide on lockers and I would like to do the swap myself so if there are any experienced members in the Seattle/Tacoma area Ill pay your gas and supply beer/food for your help. Otherwise Ill go to Billy Bobs Offroad here in Puyallup. I do have a press and will buy measuring tools if needed. Tomorrow I think Ill paint my suspension parts. Shoot, I have no particular order at the moment. Just move forward.
Thanks for reading and your help in advance,
Dustin

Wow! You have a good start! Think ya need a few more gauges:haha:

Yea your probably right but dont you think I could add a transfer case temp gauge?:haha: Oh and sorry about the hairy gut thing. Lesson #1 NO MORE HAIRY GUT PICS. See im learning life skills as well . $25 bucks aint enough but a bargain Ill gladly pay.

this pic looks like the back of a wicked fast boat, like a scarab or something. 4 buckets=real cool.

Thanks again. I have what I think is a cool vision for the half top that involves Top Gun marine fabric, Strataglass window material and diamond plate. Learning to sew even, WTF?

Aging sucks! I bought a suburban and then managed to blow up a knee this weekend. I guess I wont be cutting any sheet metal untill doc cuts on me. Cant let that stop me so I did light duty painting with various rattlecans.

Just got he DIY stuff, batt tray, a 14b diff cover (for the burb), some brackets and interior plastic from gray to black.

Will see if the plastic holds up or not. The duplicolor bed-liner paint goes on nice out of the can but I have a gallon of it (30- at joes tent sale) and would like to use a paint gun and do my axles with it. Any thoughts or experience with this? heres the guns I have:

What consistency do I want and which gun would be best for the axles? I do have a kick-ass compressor if that matters. I also need to paint a dash pad from dark faded brown to black, any tips?
Thanks,
Dustin

I didnt get the pics inserted right? Sorry, Ill have to figure that one out.

looks like a sweet build. i'd like to be able to buy all the parts like that first!

btw looks like you got more gauges than a big rig

Thanks, It started with a heater core which led to a membership which led to an addiction (threw a refi in there) and here we are.

Your avatar cracks me up. Is that JekBrown in Vancouver? Both ends of the spectrum if it is -barrel of a gun to bunny ears-too funny man:haha:

Im still thinkin about a transfer case gauge? I got it real bad!

So im gonna put dual batts and onboard air in the delta box below. Its going behind the rear buckets and in front of the bigger delta box out back (under the hatch door). I need to line it with something but not sure what to use. Thinking of a dynamat type product but looking for input/ideas? The batts in the picture are just for sizing it all up, wont be using those. Ive read Ryokens, Minimulls and others and I have a headache! I will have a winch out front and back, some tunes (nothing stupid but 1 amp) and Hellas in addition to the air compressors. As impressive as Ryoken and Minimulls are do I really need something like that or is there an easier/effective way to do this?
Thanks for looking/helping,
Dustin

You have a cool build up going. I definitely subscribed to this thread. I'm wondering what you have in mind for that half top.

Well thanks in Oregon.
The half top was cut and framed out with some scrap steel and about a 8" overhang. The overhang will be finished off with some 1/8" diamond plate that contours to the cut (see pic) and is welded to another piece @ a 90 degree angle creating a shelf of sorts. Ill probably put in a high brake light in the middle or something so guys like chiefheaphy(sp?) can see me:bow::haha:.
I need a good source for industrial velcro (adhesive and non adhesive, all black hopefully) for the windows. Maybe ill luck out and have Ryoken point me in the right direction for that.
Anyways I took some pics and hope my med soaked head explained that well enough.
