I was wondering what type of line everybody uses for the excess fuel return. Not sure what the exact name of these little buggars are, but they are the 1/8 inch lines that go between all the injectors. I just had 2 let go today. Cracks everywhere in those lines and they were just replaced little over a year ago. Is regular gas rated line sufficient? That is what I was using.

That's what most folks use. The OEM lines with the clips are a bit pricey by comparison, but when I took my motor apart (a 91) the original lines were still perfectly good - they stretched like crazy and had no cracks. Whatever the original lines are made of, they seem to be good stuff. You might want to check with your local GM parts guy to see how much he wants for 'em. Also, Kennedy, SS Diesel Supply, and others have injector install kits with the return lines and end caps. They are another option if you can't find what you want anywhere else.

My guess is that the 1/8" "fuel" hose you got is made of nitrile, which isn't the best stuff to use for any type of fuel, whether it is diesel or gasoline. Viton hose would be the best, especially if you plan to use biodiesel.

I was wondering if diesel was more corrosive to the fuel rated lines. The passenger side has been replaced with that type, but the drivers side is still on the OEM stuff. Just seemed odd that it would crack in a years time.

I have a 6.5 block that I plan on rebuilding and putting in, hopefully in the next couple months. I will definitely be putting in some better hose. When the time comes, I most definitely will be giving Walt at SS Diesel supply a buzz.

I recall it being a special material, possibly some sort of neoprene. I got mine at the dealer, and it was spendy.

I think you are right. I pulled the other ones that appear to have been replaced before and the hose material looks different. Might have to look on eghey, think I've seen hose kits before.

I bought mine off egay. some type of new hose that didnt' require the metal clips. works pretty good.

Mine are DIPACO brand, they are the space-age neoprene crap and don't require the clips either.
