I built a new bumper for my truck today. I make no real effort towards any kind of aesthetic value when I build for my truck. It works very well, and it's very ugly.

Drivers side is the "good" side. The passenger side is so smashed the window broke inside the door.

bracket to frame are a couple pieces of 3x3x.25 angle iron, bolted to the side and top of the frame w/ a total of 6 bolts per side. welding was done by my buddy, all welds were done with 7018 1/8" rod.

The blade is an old bulldozer cutting edge, and the rods are 1.25" solid steel drilling rod.

Now I just swapped over from the toyota side so be gentle but whenever I fabbed a bumper for one of them it was used to both bump things and guide you over things. While that one will do great at decapitating pedestrians it might dig (bulldozer parts do) into the trail a bit

A cutting edge for a dozer blade is just hardened plate steel with bolt hole in it. Usually 4-6" by 1/2" thick.

As high off the ground as that bumper is, if its digging into the trail, I have other issues. The ver4tical posts are because I've been taking a lot of low hanging branches and felled trees to the headlights lately.

I like it, simple and to the point good job and it takes a lot to come up with your own stuff have fun with it

I quick rattle can job could make that look a little less horrible. I like it though! Function over form or how ever that goes!

Weld beads do not like to stick to harden steel like that bulldozer blade. I'm sure one hit with something; the "blade" will fall off your truck.

My neighbors keep mentioning cash4clunkers. It doesn't even qualify! If i wanted it to be pretty, I would have built a pretty bumper.

Might be. theres nothing special about the truck, 6.2, d60, 14bolt, 56's all around. If someone walked up and offered me $5k for the truck, I'd probably take it on the spot.
