Ugly truckling build

I would leave the thrashing to bumpers sliders etc. no need to rush that swap. I hopefully will have new power run to my shop mid summer. And maybe Adam and his crew can come over for a weekend end of summer. But the chop top would be something I would not rush.
This, although the last 3 years at the World of Wheels in Chicago, a group of guys lead by the legendary Gene Winfield chop the top on an old 40s or 50s car. But they spend 3 days doing it & they work all day long. Its a lot of fun to watch.

I dont know fancy things like body work.

You need some shocks mounted in a spot that shocks dont mount well? Hit me up  :D

Had a blast at the Dunefest! Won a set of ORD shackles for the truck. I also just picked up a set of seats, and installed the carpet I picked up from Dueling. Time to start making progress on the truck!

You too man!

Made some progress this weekend. New seats are installed (temporarily). I used the stock mounting plates for now, but I will be adding reinforcement under the cab for the top chop, so they will tie into that eventually.

Seats are a huge upgrade from stock, and as a bonus I get a center jump seat!

Yeah, those seats are killer. I'm gonna look for a set of these for the next configuration.

I can't remember the years exactly but like 01 to 06 or something. My buddies 03 have em. I need a set. They are the perfect seat for me. Fit me just right. So very nice.

Mounting em pretty simple? Seems like it would be

Thanks guys!

The seats are out of an 02 Silverado. They are in Ok shape, but I'd like to get a cleaner set at some point. I picked these up for $50 for all three, so I couldn't pass it up.

They mounting was pretty simple, but I'll be re-doing it soon. The stock front inner bolt hole lined up perfectly with the new seats (Including the spacing of the middle seat.) So I used those as my guide, and drilled 6 new holes for the other bolts. I used the factory mounting plates for now, but I'll be building some under floor bracing to support the full convertible swap, and tieing the seats into that.

Using the stock holes like I did mounts the seats a little off center. They sit about 1.75" off center towards the drivers side. They also seem to sit a little low, so I'll be addressing both of those when I build my bracing / remount the seats.

Time to start working on this thing again!

I ordered up a partial cage kit from DIY4X. I picked up their B-Piller hoop, Family bars, and cage plates. I plan to build a custom A-Piller hoop, T-Top bars, and seat mounting bars.

DIY4X came through HUGE and got me the parts way quicker than quoted! Can't wait to get this stuff installed and chop this top off!

Blows my mind other companies can't do what Kert does.

Pretty sure when he gives a date he assumes all sorts of problems might happen. Course he has gotten dang good at his job. So problems rarely happen so stuff ships on time or early.

Send me a text tomorrow and I'll grab my bender as I lent it to someone at work and haven't brought it home yet.

Nice truck. I'm gonna have to check into these seats, I need to make my blazer into a six seater.

I am looking forward to your cage install. It's on my future list of mods. I want to do the full family cage setup to protect the kids in back.
