Yeah, I picked three up early this spring when they were on sale. For $199 each, you can't beat them. They're not Snapon or anything, but solid enough to hold up.

Ugly truckling build

Spent a little time in the garage the last couple days. I wanted to clean up under the hood a little, replace the radiator, install electric fans, paint the forward portion of the frame, install my ORD crossmember and steering brace. Looks like I’ve got some welding to do on the frame too. Just ordered up the weld in brace.

Mine was cracked just like that. Crazy how much the frame actually moved when it was broken..
Been a busy month!
After finding that the frame was cracked around the steering box, I picked up the ORD Weld-in brace to go with my ORD Bolt-in brace. When I installed that I decided that I would pickup a new steering box, and Jeep XJ shaft to go with it.
The same time I was working on that, I won the DIY4X giveaway for a Rear "Zero Flip". It's their new shackle flip good for ~7/8" lift. I also picked up a set of 6" Cross-tied shackles, and a set of Zero Rate's. The combo should be good for ~2.5-3" lift with stock springs, and lets me get rid of the 2.5" blocks I'm currently running.
Since I had the front end already torn apart, and I had to rip the rear apart for the Zero Flip, I figure, what the hell, let's pull the body off the frame! I picked up some new body mounts, and currently have everything disconnected. I will be pulling the body off the frame, stripping the frame down, and having it powdercoated. I'm also going to install a new fuel pump to support the LS swap at a later time.
Currently the project consists of:
New radiator
Windstar fans / controller
Powdercoat Core Support
ORD Weld-in Brace
ORD Bolt-in Brace
New Steering Box
XJ Steering Shaft
ORD Big Block (LS) Crossmember install
New Body Mounts

Maybe swap 56's if I can find some cheap stockers

Any concerns lifting the body now that it's a full top?
Not really, the body is pretty strong with the cage in place. I plan to lift it near the cage pickup points, so it should be fine.

Just ordered up a set of 57" Ford Springs for the rear, to go with the flip and zero rates. Installing a hoist in the garage this weekend to pull the body, should be moving again soon!

Borrowed a MaxJax hoist from a buddy of mine. It only took a couple hours to install, and made pulling the body a snap.
The garage is getting a bit tight, but I plan to clean it up this week, and get the frame stripped for powder coating.

How do you like that maxjax setup? Would you feel comfortable lifting the whole truck and working underneath it?
The hoist it's self seems really beefy. I don't think that would be a concern. I'm not entirely sure I like the concrete anchors they use though. They're fine for the body, but I don't know if I'd lift the full truck.

Yah I like the wedge anchors for anything critical. I have seen the Hilti sleeve anchors with adhesive work well, but they still don't give me the piece of mind like a wedge anchor.
Jesse came by with his cherry picker today, and we got some more work done on the frame. We stripped out the Engine, Trans, and Fromt Axle.
Headed to Texas for work next week, but hope to have the frame ready to go sometime the week after!

It was so nice not having every bolt fight you. Rob's blazer is in really good shape, all the bolts easily come out. Not use to that, usually I have to bust out the plasma or the torch to get bolts out.
That's how I felt when I first moved out to Utah from WI. I was like Holy Sh*t stuff actually comes apart like it's supposed to still. That's gonna be an even sweeter blaze when you are done. That's a big project to dive right into like that. Most people, myself included, get it tore down and then life gets in the way.
So far so good. Only one bolt has fought me, and the drill took care of that pretty quickly.

Craigslist score of the day. Inline Tube full stainless replacement brake lines for a 90-91 K5. Direct replacement kit someone bought for a project, and then abandoned. New, never opened.
While I was checking out the lines, he mentioned he had a few other parts kicking around.
New battery box, full interior and underhood wiring harness, new shackles, new replacement floor supports, and a new steering box brace.
I was just about to order a few of the connectors for the engine, so this showed up just in time!
