Uh oh, I pulled a Supersize75 move...

Why do that? You have a pretty clean K5 zcarczar, not a rusted out junker. Why smash it all up in the rocks until its a POS? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I guess I should have made it more clear that my question was directed at Jason. I was asking him. I relize he has a bunch of off road goodies and he also has a nice K5 that isn't rusted out(like some of you guys unfortunately have to deal with) and seems to be in very clean shape. How about DP 90? Awesome K5 that is as tough as anybodies here, gets wheeled hard, and is one of the nicest, cleanest looking rigs here. How about Derf/bullet? That is one sweet truck too that is built hardcore. My point is that obviously those 2 guys take time to make sure they don't destroy stuff(when they can help it) and still have fun. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif I consider my K5 one of the nicest also around here and I have wheeled it a ton in the mud, climbs and have always avoided damage when I knew there was a chance of hitting something, (although mine can't be held to the same standards as the above 2 because I keep mine away from tight trails for a reason.) My questions above still stands for Jason.

[/ QUOTE ] ONE of the nicest, not THE nicest...just wanted to make that clear. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I was just making a comment that mine is pretty clean and fixed up,nicer than some and not as nice as some. Just a comment, not the start of another pissing match. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Oh don't worry, I think yours is nicer than mine too but I also know I like others better as well. I think its just a matter of oppinion; some like hardcore/bashed, some like clean and high ridin, some like stock... Me personally, I would love to have a hardcore rig, I just don't have the money to make it happen.

Rfj, I really try hard not to dent my truck up on the trail. But then again I did say no from trying to keep making it up that trail cause I didnt want to take more damage. I think too is that I thought my truck was more capable than it was at that moment and I had seen another truck that was pretty similar in capability to mine go through it with out breaking a sweat, but that was 6 months ago and that trail changed A LOT!. I am going to fix the damaged quarter panels and build a new bumper, and rock sliders with much better protection than I had at that time.

I hope Branndon hurry's up with that video, I kinda want to see what my truck was doing so I know what I need to do different next time.

mine will definitely be better than yours. sure, it may not have cab corners, or much of a bed floor to speak of. it will get its fair share of trail rash, i'm sure. chrome and straight body panels dont get you home, a well thought out drivetrain does. another thing that will put my truck ahead of yours, i will have built it with my own two hands. you cant say the same for yours.

Hey Jason, I seem to remember me asking you if you were going to try it and you said "Oh yeah my truck will walk it" /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

LOL, I thought it would but NOOOOOO I was wrong. DOH! /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif When I get bigger tires and some new body armor im going to try it again hopefully that will be before I get the quarter panels fixed so I dont have to pay for fixing em twice. Its funny, I wasnt mad about the body damage as so much as getting denied on the trail, especially since that one bastard driving the "rubican" was talking so much crap.

Leland, those are good pictures, too bad you didnt get one with my driver's side quarter panel all smashed up against the rock.

Yeah and he only got one of my truck, whats that about? /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Well here we go again with you spewing your crap.

I'd hardly call your truck one of the nicest with 20 year old axle u joints and chrome diff covers just because it has nice wheels, too much lift, and boggers covered with armor all.

Along with thousands of dollars invested in your truck you don't understand at all what fourwheeling is all about or even what it is in its simplist sense of the word as the rest of the members here may use it.

You, "use" your truck but never at all like any of us do. None of us really want to trash our rigs but it's about enjoying a sport that you have little to no experience in--just a truck that is built somewhat similarly to those that actually 'wheel.

Yes there are nice rigs that actually go off road. The still have trial rash. Dents might not be part of everyone's fourwheeling, but scratches are absolutely unavoidable and are to be expected.

I don't have the time to try to explain this to you but I think you should understand this by now. Those of us who 'wheel don't intentionally want to destroy a good truck. We're just enjoying our sport and sometimes that comes with the territory.

The reason I'm adding a bunch of armor to my rig is to try to protect the sheetmetal as much as possible. Unfortunately to anyone who's ever been on a trail anything like what is above, you realize this is almost an endless battle, but one that is worth fighting if you like wheeling a fullsize, full bodied machine.

OMFG....Mark this day down in the history of CK5, for ONCE, I actually agree with the opionated little butthead. Well said Tim.

On another note, Willyswanter, how'd the truck work? /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Excellent! It basically walked the trail, only stopping was when I was told I had something leaking but we couldn't figure out what it was and it never happened again so I got back in and cruised right up it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Can't wait for da hammaz!

I know that I don't want to drive a beat up ugly piece of sh!t everyday. Thats for sure! /forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif You said it once Tim and now I believe you..."you can't have a nice truck and a wheeler in one." I didn't believe it at the time but now I do because I can see that if you take it out enough threw obsticles besides mud than it will eventually wind up hacked, beat, broken and a truggy. I decided a long time ago, with only being able to afford 1 vehicle, that having something nice and cherried out that I had to drive everyday was much more important than enjoying a beater on the weekends and driving it all week. You criticize me for that? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif I don't care if you don't like the heigth of my K5 or the rims that I have. I wasn't thinking "what would Tim like" when I was buying parts. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif I understand fourwheeling more than you think, I understand that damage goes hand in hand with hardcore wheeling and I was just asking him that before he got into obstacles that would risk body damage if he was OK with the bi product of hard "on the rocks" wheeling. No Tim, I don't wheel mine hard and honestly I don't even go out with my old muddin' buddies anymore, I am bored with wheeling and don't want to tear sh!t up anymore. Like I said I prefer a nice K5. You may consider a nice K5 one with hacked fenders, huge tires on no lift, dents, scratches, black steelies...the wheeling works. Thats nice, to me thats just a weekend wheeler....A nice truck to me is one that is well taken care of and is cherrried out. Even better if it's restored.

Sounds like your building a weekend wheeler to me, not a nice truck. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif I think my drivetrain is planned out pretty good, has never failed. /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif No, chrome and strait body panels don't get you home but it keeps it from being a POS and actually something nice and enjoyable to drive on a daily basis.

I have built my K5 from the ground up with my own bloody, sweaty hands. Besides the help of my GF's dad on the motor build (which we did, not a crate motor) and a good buddy of mine that has helped with 6 axle swaps, 1 motor swap, suspension &body lift add ons. Buddy, you are going to have to do a lot of wrenching to catch up. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif
