Just a heads up to anyone near NOVA, and looking for a diesel specialty shop. I was turned onto this shop by some mercedes guys i know.

Been talkin to a guy named scott about things id like to do to both the TDI and the K5, very cool guy, great personality, and very open. Even turned me on to a version of the Mechanical DB2 with 4 plungers instead of the normal 2. Its built for penninsular diesel, and he can sell them to me if i want one. $1400 is more than i need, and according to him, that pump and the marine injectors would make my truck smoke bad enough to get the fire department called, but with a good sized turbo, and other engine mods, it would be sweeet. DB2 is rated at 200hp, DB2 4 plunger is rated at 310hp.

Injector testing i was quoted $12 per injector (a cost that would be waived if i wound up buying new replacement units, kinda like a core charge), rebuilding my military spec pump with the proper hardened internals would start at $550.

even sent me "secret" documents detailing the differences between the two pumps, and the part numbers for each. I was pretty impressed.

absolutely, although how long it would live is another matter :D

I imagine filling the water passages half way up with hardblock, putting in a main stud girdle, lowering compression to 18:1 with forged, thermal coated pistons, using head studs, and all that jazz would let the engine live a much longer life at those power levels.

the 310hp pump is for marine engines, built for penninsular diesel.
