Unlimited 91 Suburban build up!!!

dude, da plumber is just showing some esprit de corp. His pride shows in the work he's done on that burb of his too. I think he deserves the platform to speak whatever comes to mind.
I'd like to hear more of the buildup and pics along with it..

CBBR, The H2 wheels work just fine. Cutting the hole in the front center caps was a pain in the A**. But I think it was worth it!!!

BLACK'BURB, Im now going to go with the 4L80E...

DESERT RAT, No, I have not hit the covers on any thing as of yet...

DIVORCED, Yes, the inside of the diff's are painted. Its an old school racer thing. Like painting the valley in a motor, they make high dollar paint for it but I just use Rust-Oleum or Dupli-Color High Head Ceramic...

MUDDYBUDDY, The white face gauges are silk screened vinyl stickers, so is the dash bezel it just looks like alumni diamond plate..

In Fourwheeler, when they tested the Clear Gearz along with a bunch of others they ran over the bunch with a tracked Bulldozer. They sorta crushed the Clear Gearz cover, but they were able to pop it back onto shape. Like someone posted, they held up real well. They mentioned that if the cover were mashed in enough, the ring gear could end up cutting through it, but I guess you wouldnt wreck the ring gear like if it were 'cutting' through a stamped steel cover.

Sweet 'burb, by the way.

Where did you find them for the 91 gauges I have a speedo out of an 89 in mine (with trip meter) and haven't found the stickers anywhere that will work?

I agree, and I was talking in general, not about him at all. He does have an awesome burb, and I'm still hoping he answers my questions...

Is the inside of your 14 bolt painted red? Is there any problem with the paint coming off? What kind of paint is it? The clear cover looks cool, I'd like to get one.

I was just wondering how you fill that thing? No fill hole??? Through the breather?

divorced See page 6
Ok, cool... I must have missed it  It looks great! I really want one of the clear covers now. I'll just take your whole truck, lol :haha:

BTW - I'm still on page 1. I have my options set to display 100 posts per page... it's great not having to click on all the pages :D

.

That's cool. I would have my girl drive it around so I could watch the gears go 'round, lol.

I'm guessing you don't have any problems will oil leaks from the diff covers?

.

I have a 4l80e in mine. With the amount of ponies your eng is pushing, that trans would be your best bet. Staying with the 241 or going to 205? What kind of suspension setup you running??

GM Marine Engine HP3

GM has combined the previous standard GEN VI short block, with the latest LS1 Cylinder Head and Fuel Injection Technology. HP3 engines have High Flow RECTANGLE (LS1 Cathedral shaped) SPREAD PORT 14 Degree Heads and a New Raised D-Shaped Exhaust ports, with 2.19 int. 1.72 exh. valves. These heads flow 340 on the int. and 250 exhaust. The block is a standard Gen. VI 4.25 bore, 4 bolt mains, Tall deck (10.2) Heavy Duty casting truck block. To increase strength they added (4) EXTRA Cylinder head bolts, making (5) per cylinder. These heads can only be used on these blocks. The fuel injection system is Identicle to the LS1. It has the same (SFI) Sequential Fuel Injection, with a low profile Aluminum intake manifold. It looks exactly like a giant LS1 intake. This engine has the same super efficent COIL ON PLUG IGNITION SYSTEM (distributorless), and a Large 75MM Throttle Body (LS1). This engine has a special Hydraulic Roller Cam (242 252 @ .050 114LS) with a smoother revised firing order 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3. Like the LS1, this engine has Hyperutectic pistons( 9.5 to 1 ), Forged cracked cap rods (6.535), nodular Iron internally balanced (4.37) stroke Crankshaft, aluminum oil pan w/ windage tray, aluminum timing cover

do you have any pics of it in your burb. is this a crate motor from gm? do you have a part # for it? i am looking at buying a 502 crate motor but this may be a better alternative.

The motor is a GM Marine crate engine. Im still working on getting an ECM programed for it. The only software GM makes is for marine use!!
