UPDATE 3/16/10 post 37 Custom Aluminum dash gauge layout, pics.

how about anodizing the dash? that would be sick looking...

I thought about that too but it scratches too easy in my openion. Not that powder coating can't be scratched but with all the parts I'm having powder coated red white and blue it just makes sence to just have it matching the blue I'm doing.

That dash is coming out good. I really like it. Powder coating the dash shouldn't be a problem. Once the paint is applied it goes into the oven at only 400* from what i'm told and that shouldn't affect the dash a bit.

Thanks man, I hope thats the case. I still need to get the Hot Rod AC/heater unit so it will be a while before it goes in for PC. I would like to run the indash GPS units the trophy trucks use, my bud said he might have a conection for them, we will see.I still need to complete the top dash cap panels so there will be a brow for some sun shade on the gauges.

I machined one of the caps for the 5" gauge today. Still need to make the other one. You can see in the pic from inside the dash it looks alot cleaner then the bar type mount. I still need to mill the window for the connections.

God damn it!! My last two back ordered gauges were supposed to ship on Aug 30th. Well we are way past that so a couple of days ago I contact JEGS and inquire about the gauges. They get back to me telling me Autometer has an Engineering quality hold on them and don't have any time frame on when they will be available. WTF Autometer?!?!?! :angry1::angry1::angry1: I'm calling them tomorrow and bitching someone out.

Thanks Kert, very much appreciated. Ultralite II series in the 2 5/8" size. They have had 2 1/16" for a long time but they were supposed to come out with the 2 5/8" size Jan 09'. I have waited almost two years for these to come out. They have had the 5" tach & speedo for a long time too. I might have to get a different model for the time being in the 2 5/8" size. Just sucks cause ofcourse they won't match.

I'm having a similar issue with Stewart Warner gauges for the crew. Been after the 2 5/8" air/fuel ratio gauge but it has been discontinued. Replacement part no. specs a 2 1/16" gauge. Now how the hell does that work?

Good luck!

What does the ultralite II series give you over the regular ultralite I run the ultralite seriese in both my trucks

WOW never saw those before. Probably a good thing looks expensive comapared to the regulars. Not that any are cheap. With alot of money in a motor good gauges are a must.

Now you know why I wanted them. I could have just gotton them in the regular 2 1/16 size but the 2 5/8 are nice and big, easy to see and again, bad ass :D. They are not having problems with the 2 1/16 size. They have been out for a while.

I have 2 5/8 for all my gagues in my 2wd oil, temp, volt, fuel, boost, tranny temp, and 5" for tach and speedo. The 4wd has fuel, temp, and oil

2 1/16 is to small we have those in one of the race cars and you cant really see them very well

I FINALLY got ONE of the back ordered gauges in. The water temp gauge arrived today. God knows when I will get the oil prerssure gauge. This was a very nice suprise though. Anybody who has followed this knows I have waited years for the electrical 2 5/8 Ultra Lite II's to come out.

Really looks good, but I couldn't wait that long for guages....good for you though.

My LAST god damn back ordered Autometer gauge is on it's way. After nearly four years of wanting these style of gauges in the larger 2 5/8 diameter gauge, and waiting a year and a half for the back ordered gauges to come, they finally released the oil temp gauge. It it suposed to be here Friday. $215 dollar full sweep oil pressure electric gauge. Will post pics of the dash with all the gauges installed when it arrives. Now going to start on the switches and knobs I need too.

So, this should be completed in about three years when they finally release the correct size switch.:haha:

Fortunately my bud can get everything I need. He orders this stuff all the time. He's a Master wireing freak. Ain't nothing he can't wire, figure out, or fix pertaining to electrical. He's done lots of SEMA cars.
