Title says it all... What is the best bang for your buck upgrade for a TBI 350?:waytogo:

Cam and heads are where the power is made but if you're talking about "external" mods then I would say injector pod spacer, power charger, adjustable fuel pressure regulator and gauge (set FP close to 13 psi), then on the more expensive side of the external stuff would be headers/exhaust, intake, ported TBI.

I would do these in the order i've listed as well.

Any power mods you do to a TBI motor is pretty low bang for the buck.

And really, ask yourself, why do you want more power? What do you want the truck to do?

He never said anything about more power. There are mods you can do that will help with how well it runs and as an added bonus just happens to increase a little power at the same time.

Exactly. Just make it more reliable, maybe a little more fuel efficient, and if it gives it a little more power then its a win-win :waytogo:

I'm just interested in what you guys think would be the best way to go.

:haha:Propane on a TBI truck aint going to give you any bang. Cost you a lotta bucks tho......

Headers and Single 3" exhaust will give the best bang for $ spent IMO.
If you have the stock restrictive cat and need one to pass smog. Get a new high flow type. Once you get the gasses flowing out the exhaust pipe then you can work on the intake.

Any insight to the headers? What brand? Shortys? long tube? Ceramic coated or painted?

boy, what a loaded question..... search will be your friend, endless threads on headers...

first decision, keeping the A.I.R system? that narrows your possibilties...

shorties will bolt in with little to no additional exhaust work... long tubes obviously not... but you will take a performance hit with a shorty over a tri-y or long tube... also long tubes are much more prone to starter heat soak and tight shackle/collector interference...

Have you ever ran propane???

Nope, and for the reason I posted. I know people who do run it and at first (before they installed it) were grinning from ear to ear then AFTER having run it have different thoughts about it now. Glad I have been in the automotive field now for 32 years and have seen and done alot of things to not have made THAT mistake.

My propane cost me $0.00... Really high octane, got more power and more responsive... Of course mine was never a TBI...

If you spent a lot of money, then you've probably spent to much on everything else...:waytogo: It's actually very cheap to build these trucks... I'm into my Blazer for $2800, that includes buying it...:D
