CO Update, now running! Help Save A Piece of History, 73 GMC Chassis MT Motorhome

Hence the "wanted" post?
Yep, at the very least I need it to move forward AND backwards to get it parked in my backyard.
Just go buy this one.

Truth is the only reason I have this one is the price was way to good to pass up. Also I like the 67-72 bodys styles as much as the next guy but I really would not trade straight across for that one. The doors shut on this thing better than most new trucks do and everything from the window cranks to the switch's feel like it's a new vehicle. And for me with something this size, things like power steering and power disc brakes are damn near mandatory .

Like every thing you own for a while I have noticed a small dent here and there and now that I have seen it in a couple of different light/angles the camper body does have some hail damage. Gotta love old stuff!

I saw this beast a couple weeks ago when I was bringing Ron some parts. I can vouch the cab is one of the tightest early squarebodies I've ever seen. The doors shut with a vault like thud. The cluster is mint. Bright orange needles and crisp numbers. It's a time capsule for sure.

The camper is pretty old school, but it's all together and built like a brick$hithouse.

It could make a pretty cool 2wd custom rv like the one at sema a couple years back called brown sugar.

Have a th400 in Apple Valley ca, little out of your way. If your interested, maybe we can do some sort of trade

@Capt Ron I saw 2wd TH400 on craigslist this morning you might want to check out.
I saw the one for $400.00. An ok price but to pay that much I would need some kind of guarantee. Already have builders.

Might be able to ship Fed Ex, I forget how much one weighs. I have lots of stuff to trade.

So this trans was in my brother's 55 pickup. He says it is a hard shifter, also has been quite awhile since it's run. I put in a new front seal, when we thought we where going to use it.
It was going back in as is. Might want to do a milder shift kit.

I saw one of these going the opposite way on the highway yesterday.
It had about a 3" lift, dually 60 front and towing a trailer.
So cool.

Did you keep it and get it going?
I still have it. The clutches in the turbo 400 are locked together so it wants to go forward in all gears. I drove it home and it is stashed in my backyard. I do have a couple of 4l80 transmissions I've thought about putting in but have yet to do so.
Same old story, too many projects, not enough time.

I'm getting a woody just thinking about the sound that 454 with a spread-bore Quadrajet made when it was wide open going up a hill, especially with a flipped filter cover of course!! I'm sure you could literally watch the gas gauge needle drop :yikes:
Ahh, memories of the good ol days
