was going to take there a/c stuff off? I need to do that next so I can finish taking the dash apart, but on the air conditioner box, it says high pressure, do not work on unless professional, or something like that. so I dont want to have it explode in my face... so anyone have some tips on how to take it off,,,

Just take it apart.

Yes, but loosen the fitting slowly and let the pressure bleed down slowly. Then again, there may not be any pressure at all depending on the condition of the system.

Like Tim said, its ok to take it apart.

BTW, I would recommend some safety glasses just in case.

bang!!!!! it wont explode just hisssss at you. more than likely it is dry any ways.

Re: who was that, that...

If you want to be extra cautious, use a valve stem remover to loosen the stem in the access/charge port to let the pressure out. Don't let the neighbor see you do it.

I recommend holding the line and pointing it away from yourself. Actually I recommend taking it somewhere and having them bleed it out /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Just don't let anyone see you do it, hate to see you pay a couple grand fine...

Re: who was that, that...

I was serious about having it bled it out. I'm not sure if places charge to do it but they shouldn't.

Bleed what out? is there something inside the a/c box? There was just 2 black hoses connected to it, which were full of green liquid (i forget the name /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif)

Re: who was that, that...

OKay, well besides braking a hammer (damn wooden handles) sticking a few holes in the heater vents, and squeezing my finger with pliers, it went okay... here are some pics:

oh, and the second pic shows what I had to do to get my back bumper off a few days ago...

Re: who was that, that...

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha I'm sorry Steve but this is one of your funnier things. Thats not an "air conditioning box", thats the heatercore /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. An air conditioning system is full of refrigerant, harmful to the atmosphere when released off, and as jason noted, not legal to just blow off into the sky.

Re: who was that, that...

whaaat? Where is it then? My dad said it had air conditioning, so I thought the left side was the heat, and the right side of the box was the a/c, it says refrigerant under pressure on the right side of it...

Re: who was that, that...

The big black plastic box was part of the a/c system. the heater core was in it... behind it in the cab.... the green liquid is coolant from the engine....I sure hope you are taking lots of notes and pictures /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif that's going to be a project just putting it back together /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

Re: who was that, that...

I can see from your pictures your A/C was disconnected a long time ago. Well I can't say long ago but before you ook those pictures.

Re: who was that, that...

what? So your saying i HAD a/c, but I didn't have it when I took it apart today?
