what are your plans for a front driveshaft? Is it as short as the pics make it look?

[/ QUOTE ]

The rear is actually shorter! The rear will be ~24" and the front one measures ~40". Remember that that both d-shafts come from the 2nd case.

Just out of curiaity, is this what you were looking for that Dana 61 for?

Also, for us mechanically challenged, what the heck are you doing and what are you using? I remember back awhile when the AZ guys said you were up to something. (BTW, if this is in another thread, I must have missed it.) I gotta say you seem to definately search for new aproaches to stuff. Very ingenious/creative.

Thanks Mark,

That's nice of you.... most people just think I'm /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif.

Here's some background info in another post....

My objective w/ this "T-beetle" is to make use of drivetrain parts that are commonly "chucked" or swapped out. Harley (Hossbaby50) named it - as I recall the first time I described what was in my head to him - he said "one man's trash is another man's 'Treasure'......" and so the Treasure tag stuck! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

But to answer your ?... yes this was what I was thinking about the D61 for. Turns out w/ the gearbox stackup I've got, "3" series gears (3.08 thru 3.73) are an ideal ratio./forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif hmmm.... that makes getting parts nice!

All will be told later this year when we see if it really works!.... As someone else pointed out - if it doesn't work - I'm really hosed! Cuz I've got a pile of parts that nobody wants! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

They call me CAPTAIN OBSERVANT!!!!!!! (echo, echo, echo, echo, echo)
Seriously though Marv that really looks like it's coming together very nicely! /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

Lookin good /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif you know I like the way you think.

I do have a few ideas to thow out (me?... never /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif). I would think about using the jonny joints in the shackle frame point as well. Might take out a lot of the bind. Throw a track bar on up front so the steering wont "push" the buggy's light weight chassis around on the springs, and no matter how flexed up you are the track bar should keep the steering geometry in spec. I am sure it will work great the way it is set up right now but I just like gadgets and gizmos being put to use.

I love the mall terrains, great to see them back on the trail. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Of course I recognize the parts, Marv.

As usual if it doesn't work, you can simply deny that you had anything to do with it.

Like you said for the shocks screwed together on the fun buggy. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Its like that thing they had in Fourwheeler, but with transfercases and green wheels.... and this thing is much cooler.

You gonna have room to shove a third seat in there?

In a word.... no.
