Dude, you should know that answer :D !
Being from CA you can't have more than 6 lights (including headlights) facing forward or mounted forward.
True, but not quite correct. You can have as many as you want bolted on the truck.
However, ONLY 6 lights at a time can be lit, and those that are have to be of the correct type. Fer instance, you can have fog lights on only with low beams. Passing lights are only legal with high beams. (WTF ever heard of a "passing light"? That so you can blind the guy you're passing?) Auxilary lights can be lit with either highs or lows. ALL of my lights are "Auxilary" lights. BTW, those with relays on your dual headlights to get highs & lows lit when on highs would techincally use up all 6 light opportunites.

The Courts etc. always say "Ignorance is no excuse." My reply is "Lack of notice guarantees non-compliance, which do you want compliance or revenue?"

Well I passed.. finally...
however there was another guy there looking at my truck and said he would have failed it..... but since he didnt originally inspect it, it had to go.... however he "asked" me to park the truck until it is fixed!!!!!
He said my rear leafs dont belong on that truck.. they are too long...
he said that they are binding and not allowing for any movement.....
and you know what... I believe him too... you can see it...
once again Hoper John's 4x4 truck shop has screwed me again.. thank god I dont do anything through him.... he put these leafs on the truck.... just asking to kill me as that can break a leaf....
so my question is ..... how long are leafs supposed to be?
he said my shackle should be more straight up and down... not angled like that....
can someone with a 8-12" leaf measure the length and height for me as I dont even know what size leaf it is as in lift.....
I am 54" from center of bolt to center of bolt....
I wonder if I take the leafs off to a shop and have the eye re-bent so it is a shorter leaf if that would work.. I vaguely remember a 53" leaf on these trucks....
ok pics...
rearleaf1.jpg

you can see daylight through the leaf.. thus they are bending.. so there are problems here....

called superlift and they said these leafs belong on a truck with 56" leaf length... I need the 52"....

anyone wanna buy some leafs???
he said with loaded weight they are about a 10" rear lift leaf spring.....
so now i need to hunt down some springs... or take these to a spring shop and see if they can shorten it down to a smaller setup....

well that is what im thinking.. I asked them about that and they said they had to see them first before they would tell me if the truck is legal with a shackle flip...

so if I do the 2.5" flip.... you say remove a couple of leafs.. like how many?

also just messagd ord to see... we will see..... doing the flip would be cheaper than buying new leafs.....

mmmmmm Florida. No VI, no emissions, no enforcement of height / tire laws. No rocks to play on but take the good with the bad.

The downside is of course there are alot of cars on the road that shouldn't be...

if you took out the overload and 2 or 3 others, and then did the 2.5" flip that should put it about back at the same height it was at before

I moved the rear hanger back on my truck to fit 56's. It was easy and free.:D

ok... so if I did the flip.. and took 3 leafs plus overload out id have 3 leafs under there.. guess that would work...not gonna worry about it until summer....or spring.. too cold and that white stuff is falling... :haha:

yea thats what id try first, cuz u have to get the hanger off anyway to do the flip, so just try move it back a couple inches. if you mess up or dont like it, then you do the flip;)

Root,

Pack you bags, and move west to Texas. Here, we have no lift laws. The only law is that your headlights cannot be higher than 54" (bottom edge) and the tail-lights higher than 72". Sky's the limit with lift kits, and the PoPo won't mess with you unless you are doing something stupid or leaving 500 yards of Texas Clay on the highway! :D I love it!

You want lights, add all you want. No covers, no limits, no this many forward, this many back. Dude, guys wire their trucks with 500 Christmas lights that change colors as you drive down the road here. It's awesome!

Slam the door on Jersey and tell them they can kiss your @#$%^*&.

Peoples Republik of New Joisey! NYET!

As far as lights go, in MA you can have as many as you want but they have to be coved when driving on the street at all times, except for driving/fog lights.

Also no emissions for 83 and older. But safety inspection every year. Which really consists of checking all lights, signals, horn, seatbelts, and wipers. Not to hard to pass. But I don't remember the lift laws for inspection. Everytime i go to this Mobil Gas Station for my inspection because the guys are all Brazillian and don't know which end is up and can hardly speak english. (not to be condesending to forgeiners)

I did get pulled over by a cop (for speeding) who gave me crap about my truck being too high. He said he looked it up and the MA law states that it can't be over 2" above factory. I run about 7" total lift and don't have any problems passing inspection, so I think the 2" is for a different class of cars and doesn't include my gvrw, but I don't know for sure.
