Any easy way to fix a stripped upper king pin? Mine was loose so I was torquing it down and it stripped, the threads in the C are damaged. I did a quick internet search and all I found is to weld it.
Hoping to not go that far with a repair. How about a Reid outer?
I have red neck repairs that aren’t internet approved. Need those?Hoping to not go that far with a repair.

The king pin still threads in it just won’t tighten down much so it will be easy to get it square. This x 2
I've seen it work 4 or 5 times, just be careful and get everything clean and square. Both parts are steel and weld just fine.
I replaced the king pins about 7 or 8 years ago and I’m guessing I didn’t get them tight enough. I read they are supposed to be torqued to 550ftlbs. I had the upper steering arm off tonight checking things out and noticed the pin was loose, I got it to 525 when it stripped out.Any thoughts on what caused it? I just did king pins and had the housing on the ground while standing on a 4' pipe to tighten it up. I figured they were mostly indestructible.
I can mig it, I might see if my buddy will tig it for me.Your options are MiG and TiG
