this is the second carb i put on JR and it still races at 2100 rpms.the first carb was a q-jet. this is a holley Jequist gave me to use. like i said same thing, racing engine. WHAT would cause this? THANKS

my first guess is a vacuum leak somewhere. id start pulling any hoses that connect to the intake system south of the throttle body, and plugging the port with my finger. if you pull and plug, and nothing happens, that hose is fine. if you pull and plug and the rpms drop to normal, it means somewhere along that hose, or whatever it connects to, there is a vacuum leak.
have you tried turning down the idle speed screws on the carb? or the idle set screw on the throttle linkage?
