Vacuum modulator

not much into Transmissions so I have to ask but what does the Vacuum Modulator do on a Transmission???????

Modifies the transmissions shift points in relation to manifold vaccum. Also controlls fluid pressure.

low vaccume= (hard acceleration) it will hold the trans in a lower gear longer or downshift. For better performance.

high vaccume= Allows normal upshifting

Wnen they go bad or get a hole in them they hold the trans in first and wont let it shift to second.
