Very cool article about a 69 Baja truck

Hickey hoods

You've probably been asked this before but here goes.
Whom might own the molds to the Hickey hoods for the second gen blazers?

DITTO! i would buy a set f/r......if he ever replies back!

You don't want ANYTHING to do with this clown..... :deal:

Ron has ripped off members of this board (and other forums as well) but is still active on other sites and acting as if nothing has happened. :angry1:

Be thankful that he hasn't returned your messages, it probably saved you many hundreds of lost dollars.

:usaflag:

Not to beat a dead horse, but its really sad that he's "abusing" the Hickey name to screw people like that.

It almost makes me wonder if that collection of killer vehicles is really his...

I was wondering something similar. Maybe I just try to assume the best in people a little too much, but is there a chance the guy signing up for these boards isn't the same guy who bought the Vic Hickey blazer? Maybe Ron died and some scammer is trying to pull a "Bernie's vacation" type thing by impersonating him? Highly unlikely, I know...

A bunch of country boys armed with rifles, shotguns an' four wheel drives, make sure this mother f****r will not survive.

Any updates? Last I heard, Rons mother passed away, whom he was living with. Her house/shop sold, where Ron lived. He sold or lost his machine shop, all his trucks. Got sick and move back east with his sister? The red truck sold for some crazy price like $70,000. Not sure who ended up with the other red blazer race truck or the Oldsmobile race car he restored. Ron was local to me and we went to the same machinists school. He used to rebuild Roots style blowers. I bought alot of parts from him when he needed money off and on.

Looks like it sold in 2008 for $60,000. Oldsmobile ended up with the Mexican Tequila guy, Ron was supposed to be building a race truck for that guy and that is when last time I talked to him.

In the late 2000’s both the Hickey/Garner Olds 442 and the Hickey McQueen truck were rescued and restored by Ron Johnson of Oregon. Johnson, a rather odd and eccentric character had big plans to restore the Hickey Enterprises name but financial and personal problems forced him to sell both vehicles as collateral for outstanding debt. The Olds wound up with the Mexican owner of Los Valientes tequila, while a group of people in the Los Angeles film industry retrieved the Chevy truck with the purposes of selling it at the Mecum auction to recover their money from Johnson.

When I was keeping tabs on RJ with another member back when all this was going on, I had been informed that RJ lost all the vehicles to investors of whom put them up on the auction blocks and made their money off of. RJ didn't receive a penny. He had literally bankrupted himself with the whole obsession.

Later I found him on Facebook and sent a 'friend request' just for shits and giggles. Dumbfounded, he accepted. I learned thru FB that he had moved somewhere east in the US to live with his sister. His financial problems were just that: Hickey related. His personal problems were drugs and a sexual offender charge he got labeled with. If you remember the pics of the young girl whom he had 'employed' you will find out that they had relations even though she was under 18 and he was like 60, something happened between them that he got caught and charged. I see both of them are still friends on FB and she's a mess. Her name is Raychel Jolly and today she's still young. I believe she was involved with RJ and drugs along with the sex charge.

RJ doesn't post on FB at all. The only updates is when he posts his 'check in' at hospitals, etc. Evidently he's having some serious health issues and is near death from my understanding. If you've ever watched Shameless and William Macy's character Frank Gallagher you will quickly form an opinion of RJ's doppleganger in the personality area. He was very arrogant and a narcissist prick.

I'm glad to have gotten my issues taken care of with him. Unfortunately many others cannot say the same. One of Hickey's employees from back in the day is friends with me on FB and we keep chat every now and then. He had lost hundreds of personal photos to RJ and never got any of them back. Just a shitty way to have tried to help each other out and only one ended up losing out on everything.

Personally I have no remorse for RJ. The matter took me 18 months to resolve. I couldn't care less about the man and really would'nt care to meet him either. He made his bed and he has to sleep in it for the rest of his life.

I am just glad that he's no longer calling me to tell me what he was doing. He would call to tell me how he got so and so to give him gear, or how great his axles were, or whatever. Total name dropper, self promoter. I could hardly get him off the phone, and I make my living on the phone.
