I figured at 7 he might need a smaller rifle. I've got about 4 10/22s, along with a couple of Remingtons and a Winchester in .22 ca.Yeah fordum ...me and my son are ruger guys...we have a gp100 ,Lcp 380 crimpson trace, and I bought my son the all wood 10-22 long rifle for his birthday and first rifle......just a few of the toys....but marlin idle defiantly a good name to have
I bought my cousin's son a Chipmunk when he was little, but they have been bought out by Cricket.
The gun shot great, and he loved it. But the darn thing had a peep sight, and I wanted standard iron sights.
If you know how to shoot already, the peep can be more accurate, but it sucks for teaching.
So, I quit recommending them and switched to the Marlin because of the sights.
If he is big enough, the Ruger is hard to beat. But I like to start off young shooters with single shots.
That teaches them to make the first shot count. Instead of just spray and pray.
