I'm running a modded stock setup with 8 guages in it and I would ditch that in a heartbeat for your setup. I looked everywhere for a non AC, not mangled around the radio, not cracked cluster. I ended up moving my headlight switch up to the 85-87 position just to use it. And then the angle still sucks. I say go for it and put me in line for one.

i say go for it, id love to have one when and if you make them, but like others have said, just make it optionable, all i need is a tach, coolant temp and oil pressure gauge, a couple switches to turn on lights, foglamps and the electric fan override switch... i know you can make it... and i think you will have great success with it!! good luck bro!!

Another option would be to sell them to parts companies, like Year One. Let them do all the marketing for you. That might be more viable once you've sold them for a while through ebay and what not. Then you can prove there's a market for them. Especially if you really wanted start doing them instead of a regular 8-5 deal.

I think it looks tits and the angle correction rocks....and I hate the factory setup.

Just as an FYI, the problem isn't the angle of the gauges in the stock setup at all...remove the plastic bezel and you'll see what I mean. GM simply set the gauges way too far back from the driver (due to the "depth" of the black plastic bezel) and the gauges are obscured around the edges depending on which ones you are looking at.

I'm going to dislike re-installing the stock bezel for this reason. Gauge visibility is 100% better with the bezel off. :( That's one of the reasons the pictured cluster setup is so appealing to the eye.

I know, but the bezel is flat, so you can't jam an autometer gauge in there and get good visibility.

I thought it would be neat if you could fit stock gauges, but they aren't designed to have a bezel over top of them (the faces are pretty much square actually) so I don't think anything other than an aftermarket gauge setup will work.

You could MAKE a dash bezel that they could screw to or something along those lines, but then you'd have to have plastic of some sort over the top of them.

Wanna fix your stock bezel? Loose the plastic and fab up a piece of non-reflective glass (used in picture frames). The problem is twofold. The plastic gets scratched and reflects light. Would just take $$$ to fix:rolleyes:

I do like the smooth surface of your faceplate. Looks better than the pebblestone and accent lines of the original.

Wouldn't be hard to put the tranny pointer in there. What will be hard will be a lens to cover it.

It's not that, we're talking about aftermarket gauges installed in modded stock bezels, they point at your belly... CovanClassics offerings are like that...

Personally I never had an issue with the stock gauges other than a lack of wanted info...

will the stock ones fit in it? if so how much do you want for one? let me know :)

 huh?

In my dash?

They are not for sale yet, thus the poll....

Covans Classic already has some with Autometer guages in it, but if you can beat their pricing, I think you have something that can sell pretty well. Hell, I'd be interested if the price is right.

I think a version with minimal holes cut would be best. Although formed with consideration for varying layouts. Perhaps guidelines on the back for the standard gauge sizes and OE accessories.

The trouble with a possible customer like myself is if I think I can DIY good enough, I will go that route instead of spending the $$$. OTOH, if its cheap enough that I'd be foolish to waste the time, then I'd go for it. :o

The big difference is Covan's point at your belly..That place is a ripoff... Flat paneling the front and running Autometers is cake... Noone has one with angle correction...

I have been considering something like this but making it myself with diamond plate. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/0091.asp It's only $100 from LMC Truck. It is made to go over your existing bezzel, however you could easily make something like this and have aftermarket gauges in it.

Once again, they point down if you run aftermarket gauges... The flat panel over the existing bezel w Autometers has been done multiple times... Super simple, thus why people have done it... While ok, I like to see my gauges clearly, plus I just think it looks goofy when your driving..

I don't wanna start am arguement, but you can angle them in the stock bezel, if you take the time and have the know how. Most people however, either don't have the know how, or dont have the time, or both. "Bolt-ons" are always more popular than modding, it's minimal effort. Even without gauges the panels would sell like hot-cakes. I say bust out 20 blanks and see how fast they go, and how many people ask "can u put the gauges in them for me?" and go from there.

where can I get one?

how much for one for a 76 w/ out AC? that'd be baller to have in my truck.

Sorry, not available yet.. Just getting into creating the mold now to go into production.. Probably be a few months...

Why don't you make a mold for the A piller gauges. With as much as it has been talked about on here they would sell fast.
