You'll not recieve much help with applying one of those to your truck on this board. Most here don't like them. I do, but am entertaining the idea of removing it.

That being said, I don't know of any adhesive that I'd trust for any length of time.

I just put one on my truck, and i like it. As long as you put some good silicone around the bolt holes, it should do pretty well to keep the water out.

bought my truck
someone at some point had one of these on it
now I have white caulking inside many holes
not thrilled

Strong magnets!!

Actually could be done. I have some magnets that would let the visor break before they turned loose, but I don't know how you would attach them to the visor.

You could mount it using rubber "well nuts" like they use on mirror brackets and roof racks, they are a rubber "cork" looking device with a threaded brass insert, that expands when you tighten the bolts..(much like those rubber freeze plugs they sell)...you drill a 1/2" hole and insert the well nut,and when you tighten the bolt up it expands the rubber and forms a water tight seal...

I have a visor on my '82 K2500,and like it OK,it helps keep snow off the windsheild when parked and the sun out of my eyes, and I think it makes the truck look better--but the main reason someone put it on in my estimation, was to hide rot around the windsheild !..the roof on my truck looks like a tree caved it in at some point too,it has a good INCH of bondo all over it and one area on the passenger side has a gash I covered with that aluminum tape with butyl rubber caulking on it !..

No visor, but you could tint the top of the windshield to make it a little darker.

yeah, i don't think i'll put the visor on if i have to drill holes. would rather glue it on. and definately don't later want to fill the holes with cauk.

If you really want one, :dunno:, and you don't want to drill into the roof, go to an auto body supply store and ask about some of the panel bonding adhesives they have. That stuff is strong enough to stand up to anything and you don't have to drill any holes. Auto body shops use it sometimes when they don't want to tack weld a body panel in place and it's just as strong as welds.

It's usually a 2 part mix, it only takes a few minutes to tack up and cures in 24 hours. I guarantee you, if you were to take off the visor down the line, you'll need a grinder.

If there is a decent amount of surface area, you could probably hold it on with 3M foam body molding tape. It's pretty strong. This has the advantage that if you change your mind later it could be removed with no damage to the truck (unless the paint on the roof doesn't have very good adhesion). Losing the visor because it flew off on the freeway would not be a big loss, but having it hit another car could be.

So what is it good for?
