visor or not???

i wonder what age group the majority of these NO voters are in.

personally, i like them, especially the ones with lights, but then again, it could be a fact i drove trucks for several years, all my rigs had them from the factory, i just like the look.

I like them as well, different strokes for different folks.

The panel adhesives are stupid strong! The door hinges on 88 and up trucks are glued onto the cab.

I like em on our rigs.. I think they add to the lines of square body GM's...

Put down the JC Whitney catalog and back away.....:haha:

I got my headliner from there... still have it and bought it in 1988.. they still sell it too!!!! is a hard plastic with dome light, spot for radio that i cut out and put a cb in....

top one..

im 37 and you get a YES vote from me.. I always liked them... more of a "Look Reason"...

and JCWhitney was my favorite pron mag!!!! :woot:

I'm 31 (for age reference). I used to like the looks of visors BUT, not so much anymore. I just don't think they are worth the trouble, whether ya mount them with bolts or adhesive (IMHO).

There are a lot of vehicular add-ons that I used to like but, the older I get, the more I like the simple clean lines of a minimalist approach. So, I guess I am biased against the visor idea.

28
and tho I wouldn't spend the money it takes, I liked shaved trucks and old cars.
so maybe that's why I don't like the visor
also my entire front window is tinted on the DD, shhh

My 77 had one when i got it. I left it on there, and it kinda grew on me... Would I ever go through the trouble to put one on? absolutely not lol.

yeah , thats the choice i got, deal with it and drill the holes in the roof OR just forget about it. thanks everyone for your input, i sware it's a tie between yes and no. it's a personal choice.

Tie Breaker........ NO!

If you're going to install a visor go all the way, and that means pink or purple shock boots, chrome shocks (at least 2 per corner) and a row of KC Daylighters (with smilie face covers) across the roof.

The 80's are over man, sorry you missed it but it's time to move on.

:D

3-4 mpg better.

You sure you're not stretching it just a little bit?

I hear 1-2 all the time. I think that's an impressive gain all by itself. Well worth taking mine off but 3-4 seems like alot.

I'm the same age and yep, same way. Ten years ago I spent all kinds of money on bolt on appearance crap that did nothing other than suck up my money and add weight. Now I prefer a much more simple, stockish look. Hell, I remove body, not add crap too it.
My truck has had two of them put on, took the last one off and got like 3-4 mpg better.
Well, can't say on a K5 but I had a friend with a late 80's S10 2wd who put one of those on and lost at least 3mpg right off the bat. Said it also felt like he had a sail up there. Took it off and all returned to normal.
From an aerodynamics standpoint alone they're just an efficiency killer on an already aerodynamically challenged vehicle.

if i bought something that had one, i would keep it. but i wouldnt have the heart to put holes in a perfectly good roof.

its your truck. do what looks good to you
