They were all working for a while today then next thing you know all of a sudden, they S*(& the bed now is it the electrical circut on the back of the cluster that messes up?? time for a new cluster?? ive already checked fuses and everything all is fine from that stand point i have lights on the cluster etc. anybody have any ideas??

Cheers:confused:

Sometimes ignition switch failure will cause that. try working key
(jiggling) back & forth, see if gauges flicker...

start searching for a short to ground on the steering colum harness. Only place im aware of that all of those circuits are in close proximity to one another.

no shorts to ground anywhere i have traced all the wires on the column i have a feeling its the cluster thats shot so im going to change it out and see what happens keep throwing ideas out here though guys i appreciate it :)

If all the gauges don't work then it's either the power feed or the ground to the gauges more than likely. No way all the gauges went bad at once. Could be the printed circuit, could be as simple as the connector at the back of the cluster, since the printed circuit contacts are simply glued in place, and tend to break free of the backer, breaking contact with the connector pins.

Not difficult to figure out, just need to pull the cluster and do a good inspection.

First post says he checked fuses. Had to double check that right now to make sure I hadn't missed that part earlier. :)

Always a good suggestion regardless. As much trouble as pulling the cluster is comparatively, I might go so far as to test the fuses with a continuity checker instead of visually.

oh, i missed that too... that's one issue i've never heard of happening...

what year and model do you have...?
