So I had to take my 96 Yukon to a garage to get it finished. Working nites, no garage, mud for a floor, not fun. But I put in a motor n tranny, got it running and it runs super smooth. I had other stuff to do to it, so didn't get driven around, but I would start it and let it idle, checking fluids, etc. I had to fix a brake line, while the hood was open I would occasionally rev it up. It has a whipple supercharger on it, so would rev pretty quick. I would try to rev it, it would stumble, sometimes it would rev sometimes it wouldn't. It would idle fine tho. Tried to start it next day and didn't start. I thought it was the pump, but garage says it has 55-65 or somewhere in there, can't remember exactly what he said. It would start on ether tho. Mechanic said it has fuel and spark, but the injectors aren't firing. He was gonna check some wires, there was one that looked like had corrosion on it, that was for the fuel return line for the whipple. So it really shouldn't have anything to do with the injectors, just pressure. This ran beautiful, then this. Really want to get this thing going, Im at a loss, and mechanic is too. There is no check engine light or codes, Im pretty sure he checked fuses. Im' really hoping its not the electronic BS for the whipple, since there is next to 0 support for this system anymore.

I’m not sure if it’s the same on the vortec, but I have seen a bad distributor module have spark but no injector fire on tbi.

We mentioned that too. Was supposed to pull the cap n check things out. I put new plugs but never pulled cap n rotor when I installed engine

I want to say my buddies '96 Tahoe had the distributor go out. That was when we realized how cheap a complete replacement distributor was.

With the whipple in there, and it (apparently?) being integrated electronically to the truck, that would introduce variables that most probably don't have experience with.

The Vortec setup also throws a CPS in there, I don't know much about them, but perhaps it would be valuable to test to ensure that is working properly?

if your playing with obdII stuff anymore you best be having a good scanner to read live data to see whats missing or you can be chasing your tail all over the vehicle .

There are no codes/check engine light coming on. The electronics for the whipple only come into play when there is boost. When there is boost, Then all it does is restrict the return line forcing the fuel back to the injectors. Controlled drip basically. I never really messed with Vortecs before so this is all new to me. But with it running beautifully one day then not the next tells me it's something simple. I mentioned the distributor to buddy, and I have a brand new one, but, thanks to no ****in garage and water getting into tote, is now junk. But, I have the one that came out of the Yukon with 68k miles on it.

no codes fine no codes . but this wont help you a lot of the time . if its not running then lots of stuff wont set a code . so this is were LIVE data showing on a scanner you can see whats missing a lot of the time.

im sure he has a scanner. kinda hard to get codes when it needs to be running when it won't run lol

live data will show stuff when cranking . . . such as crank position / cam position / tps / fuel pressure on some / all sorts of stuff . looking at this will help show you whats missing . this is my whole point .

and you do know the dist in these can and do wear teeth and even snap them off when to thin . so pop the cap and check for rotor movement .

Well stopped by today to ask bout scanner, distributor n what not, guess they got it running messing with the fuse box. So dunno if fuse/relay is bad or bad connection, but they looking at it. Makes me feel better....

Turned out to be cap/rotor. Put new AC Delco on and runs great again. Fixed the stupid shit I couldn't, drove it home today. Runs pretty good, can hear the whine of the whipple just a lil bit. Now need to wait for all this BS to be over so DMV can put this thing on the road....
