I'm testing the waters to see what the availability and prices are for a decent vortech (or tbi) 350 would be. It'll need to have the computer and other related stuff to make it run in an 81 k5. Thanks for any input.

How about a 6.2L diesel injection? You know you wanna...
Not really... a diesel in a Blazer makes as much sense as a 4-banger in a dually to me. Don't get me wrong, I love diesel, just not in this.:wink1:

Shaw Auto Parts in Pocatello shows a bunch of 5.3s for under $500.00. I have never dealt with them but may be worth a call @ 1 800 888-9495, I'll bet they'll give you everything to do a conversion for just a little bit more money.

What is not to love? It has fuel injection, a governed idle (crawls over just about anything at idle without dieing), will wheel all day long on half the fuel of a gasser, and the low end torque of a big block... It's not the best motor for mud and high RPM's though.

The Jimmy is now both my dad's and my project, and the consensus was for gasoline. Now if I were to have purchased a suburban or pickup in high school, I'd be all for it, and he would too, but we've already put money into some pricey stuff for the V8 swap I already did in HS, and don't really want a $500 exhaust to go to waste, or the radiator. And, IMO, a vortec swap would be a little more original then a 6.2 swap, seeing as GM MADE the K5 with a diesel. That and a diesel is heavier then gas and weight is of the consideration here.
