Anyone ever run or currently running a Super Turbo muffler (or mufflers) on your truck? How quiet are they? I currently have a stainless dual exhaust with two unknown brand mufflers that are too darn loud for my taste. I want to get as quiet a muffler as possible and I heard the Super Turbos are pretty quiet.

I used to like loud mufflers like glasspacks when I was in high school but those days are behind me now and I just want some peace and quiet :D

I run the Dynomax Super Turbos. They flow very well, are pretty subtle at an idle, and give off a nice roar when you're heavy on the skinny pedal. If you want a performance muffler without the bark of a Flowmaster, I suggest you check them out.

Are you running Headers too?
I have run "turbo" type mufflers, that sounded great, with just a quick turn out after the muffler, in front of the axle.
I had a Dynomax Header and super turbo muffler system on my 85, that went out past the axle, and then turned out. I thought they sounded real good, but had a glass pack "pulse" to the sound. (Does that make any sense?)

Not sure if you're asking myself or Paul, but yes I'm running headers. Do you suppose the headers might make my dual exhaust harder to "silence"? I basically just want my exhaust to STFU. I have 3:08 gears and run 32" BFGs. It seems like if I want to accelerate at a respectable and impressive rate I have to rattle everyone's windows in a 100 foot radius...:D

I too am tired of setting car alarm off as I cruise down the block. I have been wanting to go with either Magnaflows or the Dynomax Super Turbos, but don't wanna buy a muffler and then not have the sound I'm looking for. Now with Paul and zimmer's input, I think I'm leaning Dynomax.

Actually I was refering to you Craig....After hearing open exhaust manifolds, and headers, I feel that the headers are louder. Maybe the cast iron cancels some, and the restricted outlet of the manifold too.

Matt:

The Magnaflow is definitely a little "throatier" than the Dynomax, and barks a little more off the line. Basically, the Dynomax is a little quieter all-around.

As I said, I own both, and prefer the Dynomax overall. :thumb:

Thanks Paul, I like something that sounds good when you get on it, but mu Flomaster 50 at idle sets off car alarms, and the sound inside the cab is sometimes headache inducing. I think I'll head over to Summit's site right now....

I'm with Paul on the Dynomax Super Turbos.

I had one on my '95 Yukon and it was the perfect blend of a mellow rumble at idle with a throaty sound when you're 'gettin on the skinny pedal'.

They talked me into a Magnaflow this time, and that thing is loud all the time. It does sound 'good', but I tire of the noise following me all the time.

You know Craig, if you really want it to be quieter, you could just put a stock replacement muffler on.... ?

Well I thought about that, but I work at Summit Racing, so I get a really sweet deal on the stuff we sell :D :cool1: And since I don't mind some exhaust sound, I think I'm going Super Turbo.

I was driving my Blazer around today and was kind of liking the sound of my mufflers. But my fiberglass top was on. It's when the top is off that it's the most annoying...

I run the dynomax super turbo's. I got them very cheap when a local spped shop was changing owners. they sound fine. quieter then the flowmaster 50 series I had on before.

my setup is headers into 2-1/4" pipe into mufflers. no turn downs or pipe after the muffler. it dumps under the bed right before the front spring hanger.

i guess i got quite flowmasters...my 50series was loud at idle, im runnin long tubes and 40s now at idle and cruising its nive just turn the radio on and you can hardly hear it..its when you accelereate HArd that it gets loud...

Ok I lopped off my annoying glasspacks last night and removed my tailpipe assembly (I was able to take off all the exhaust clamps with a wrench and can re-use every one of them if necessary, that's a first for me). I'm picking up the 2 Super Turbos today on my lunch break and will stick them on tonight.
