You know what really sucks i have a 1977 blazer with a 350 gm goodwrench crate motor that i paid 1300 for 5 years ago and i put maybe 9000 miles on it.I started it up heard a bang connecting rod and part of the camshaft was in my oil pan.:mad:Im looking to put a 454 in it:wink1: i have one i found for 1200 used.I want to know will it just bolt up to everything or will i have to change motor mounts radiator hoses.ANyone ever done this swap let me know what i have to do to change it over or will it just bolt right up.Thanks everyone

Sorry to hear about your motor! But now you get to have a big block, so it's a win/win. I've had a little experiance with this swap. Motor mounts will work(do yourself a favor & leave the bolts holding them to the crossmember loose 'till you get the motor in. don't ask me how I know....), tranny will bolt up, hoses & stuff might need to be delt with, my truck had universal "flexy" hoses so they worked fine. Also, you probly want to get a big block radiator, easy to find in junkyards(4 core. also came in some trucks w/400ci SBC), but your SBC rad will work OK just to get you going.

Hope that helps!

I don't know what tranny you're running (auto or stick), but you'll likely have to change flexplate/flywheel. The 350's are internally balanced, the 454's externally balanced.

Your oil pan may hit the crossmember if you do not use big block engine mounts. There is a difference in the rubber clam shell mount, the steel mount that bolts to the frame, and the mount that bolts onto the engine block.

If the engine isn't complete you can run into problems with pulleys and brackets. The easiest to setup is the long water pump engines which started in 1973 in trucks and 1969 in cars. If you have a short water pump and you don't have brackets and pulleys save yourself some trouble and just buy a long water pump.

The short water pump has a large inlet. I couldn't find one to fit my truck, so I bought one for a 1972 truck and added a piece to make it longer.
If someone knows of one that will fit please let me know.
