Hello,

I've got a 1978 Shortbox Chevy 4X4 which I've put a 1987 front clip on. However, I'm having a lot of trouble finding the correct front trim in good condition.

I'm looking to buy the four pieces of grill trim surround along with any mounting hardware that is salvageabe.

In order to make sure the correct parts are sourced, I've taken some photos of the stuff that I took off that is damanged, dinged, or bent. Please note that the top corner of the grill is a 90 degree angle, and the lower corner of the grill trim is rounded.

The first picture is the left side of the trim that I am missing (Top corner is on the left of the picture).

The second picture is a close up of the trim so the exact shape is visible as different years appear to have different shapes.

The third picture is the shape of the trim from a cross-section so the moulding shape is visible.

The fourth picture is a close up so you can see the type of ding/damage I am trying to avoid.

This fifth picture is the front of the truck with the bumper dropped so the trim and its location is visible. You will note I am missing the left and right side.

If someone has a set of this I can buy, let me know the cost.

Thanks!

I have those pieces ..... I also have the plastic piece that surrounds each headlight , and DOES NOT accept factory strip like on the grille , it looks good with chrome or billet grilles :thumb:

I don't know what to sell em for , make me an offer that reflects packing em up and sending to Canada .

Does anyone know what YEAR those trim pieces I posted are from? The guy that sold it to me said 1987 but I looked at two 1987 trucks today and neither of them had the same moulding shape.

Any ideas?

I don't know why the 87's you looked at wouldn't be the same..

Here's pics of my Blazer with the 85 and 87 front clip.

and my 83 truck. It also has the same trim. I guess it goes from '82-87'??

Yeah that does look correct! From the photo it's kind of hard to see, but does it have the same double-ridge that mine had in the second photo I posted above?

Hmmm.... if I could only get the buggers at LMC Truck to walk to the shelf and look at the part. That just makes me nuts that I call up and I get some call centre based out of Mumbai India or wherever the hell it is that is located apart from the parts. They need a tech guy...

There are two elements I am trying to match up:

The rounded bottom corner (which does go 82-87)

The moulding with PRECISELY the same shape as that visible in the 2nd photo I posted. Each moulding has sort of... two tiers... to it. There are a lot of solid-bar type (with edges shaved) that don't have the exact same shape. I've been running through more wrecker yards than I care to admit. Whenever I find a truck with the right trim, it's been in a head on collision and is garbage... doh!

ahh i see what you're sayin now. As far as i know they all look the same but i can't remember. I'd have to look, but mine might even be different and i've never noticed before.

You have the right idea though by buying all four pieces. Tryin to match up trim is a PITA. I found that out on my old car

You missed this last week on eBay but you could email him! Never sold.

The other place you could try is LMC Truck or http://stores.ebay.com/Car-Parts-Wholesale I would do LMC before Carparts just have bad feelings on them.

I have stuff from here and they are pretty good. http://www.1aauto.com/

Wow thanks!

I have managed to put together ALL pieces of the trim now, EXCEPT the one that this guy had to for sale. I've contacted him and we'll see where it goes.

Thank you!

NP been there and getting ready to do my truck up in a few months once the snow threat diminishes. My last part is the inside rear panels in tan. Hard as hell to find.

Thanks for that link! I contacted the guy, followed up with him, and I got it. It was the ONE piece of the grill that I didn't have so that was flukey in a huge way. Damn these message boards work out well sometimes!
