I'm looking for one that runs and drives okay but I want to build most of it myself.

So your in the 6K to 10K range...?
10K!!!:eek1: Well I'm hoping that I don't have to spend that much. I got a line on a 72 for 3K today and it runs nice and is in purdy good shape. I've never seen a K5 in this area go for more than 6K or so unless it was BUILT BEEFY and like new. Ya' know a pack of smokes down here costs 2-3 bucks and I know a pack up there runs like 5 or 6 right? So I'm thinkin' (hoping) that it's all relative. I bought a '69 shortbed K10 Cheyenne in really good shape a few years back and it was 5K so I dunno?.... Thanks for the response though.

If you wanna pay shipping, there are some clean ones here, really cheap if they don't run, a little more if they do, and I believe with the shipping you will still get e good deal.

That's good to know. Do you have any tips on parts yards that have first gens in them near Sac? Stuff's way to expensive down this direction.

:haha: sorry, didn't mean to scare ya.
Good to hear their still somewhat affordable down there.

Findning a "good" body is where the exspense will come in.

Fair warning:
If it looks mostly rust free, look deeper cause these 1st gens hide the rust really well right up until you dig in.

Problem areas are,
*Windshield frames
*Torsion boxes (usually M.I.A.)
*Inner and outer rockers
*Inner kick panels
*Floors (of course)
*Rear bed sill
*Cowl in front of the firewall and cowl down on the sides where you can't see.

Good luck, post up pics when you find one. :waytogo:
