Well I am thinking about a Warn Winch Bumper for my 78 K5. I need to know how far they are off of the front of the truck, and how low the bumper hangs.

thanks

I can't help you with exact stock measurements, mine has been lifted & tucked. I could guess-timate it though.

That bumper will work fine in stock form long as you don't try any severe inclines or descents with sharp approach angles.

I am just doing mild stuff and want a winch as a back up just in case. my friend told me the other day "tires and lockers will get you into the mess, a winch will get you out"

if you get a chance could you give me the messurements of your and guess where it was in stock form.

Thanks

As measured from your valance panel - the metal trim below your grill and lowest hanging piece behind the bumper.

The Warn will stick out an average of 11 inches from that panel lip and hang an average of 6.5 inches below it.

For normal woodsy trails and offroad roads it's not an issue. Try to rock crawl any steep angles and it becomes an anchor point.

Look at my pics in the BlazerBazh 07' pics not sure if mine is a warn bumper or not  but it didn't give me any problems on the trip

kgblazerfive, thats a neat looking bumper

and Cricket(James right?), could you post up a couple of pictures of you bumper and your truck(free pics)

Yup, Thanks alot

The messurments you gave me, where those messurments from your bumper or a guess at stock?

Those are a guess-timate of the stock position. I've got one decent picture left of the "before mods" bumper. Let me link that one so you can see how low it used to sit. Give me a minute to post it.

Over the course of a year or so. Before mods & after mods to the Warn. You might have to look close but these are the best I have left on file.

From the exact same measurement point - lower valance lip.

7" horizontally from lip to bumper outside face.

4" drop from lip to bumper base.

Upper flat trim panels have been reduced by half - no trimming to main bumper body. You could tuck it up tighter but that would probably not leave much room for a winch.

by the way if i get one here is the truck its going on.

Pic Whore Time:D
